Spider mites haven't been much of an issue on my blueberries, not nearly like many other fruits. Yours don't sound like mites. You need to water enough to keep the soil moist but not wet. Mine in pots get watered once a day in summer tapering to about twice a month in winter. Winter watering needs vary greatly due to weather conditions and whether or not the plants drop their leaves.

Jeepers - you guys that live in Canada! ;o) It's hard to say because you probably don't have the same brands we have in the States. Here, we would just go to a grain elevator for a generic 50 lb bag, or find a large plant store that has an all-year display of Espoma products, but unless there's another member from Canada who can offer some more specific help, ...... I was wondering if you'd be back to ask about the nutritional aspects. I mused that if you came back, you were pretty committed to learning more about plants, and if you didn't, you either thought I was full of beans or didn't really care all that much. I cropped just that part of the pic so it's bigger. Looks like a very short underground version of the stalks of babies, a stolon. That's fascinating. I don't know if this plant is technically a grass or not, but it definitely grows and takes over like one. Looks like I haven't been paying as much attention to these plants as I thought. If Saleh wants to add a new pic, looks like it will show a new individual forming just like yours, Rachel. Looks great, btw, nice green color! You could also nip off the stems that were connecting them to the mama if you feel like it. They do make a nice handle though, don't they? Unless there's a reason you're waiting, which is fine also, those could go to soil anytime.

in general mites are usually not a problem outdoors. the natural enemies of mites keep them in check. but they are incredibly bad indoors or in greenhouses. but now that you are outdoors you might be fine after getting the major infestation under control. since the mites are in a pot. you should be able to shot them off the plant with a strong water spray. try using plain water in a hand sprayer. take the pot where you dont mind the mites landing like on a driveway. you might also take some off or kill them by rubbing your fingers over them. not sure on this one. You might rub them off onto your fingers but they might not be dead. alcohol will kill them but it will also kill the plant. however, if you get them on your fingers a quick dip in alcohol will kill them and let your fingers dry before rubbing the plant some more. dormant oil spray is a miticide. I think you can substitute any oil. since you only have the one plant. take a very small amount of oil like cooking oil and put it into some water so it floats. dip the plant top down through the oil and back up through the oil. hopefully this will coat the plant and then let it sit and dry. it would help to shake up the oil and water but it will separate quickly. you might shake and spray it on. might work. neem oil is used for this. also a super fine emulsion of parafin wax or oil is used in this way. except they will mix with the water better. you can also try spraying it onto the plant. the idea is to give the spider mite and its eggs a light coating of the oil. when the water dries off, the mite will have a coat of oil that will kill it. so spraying every hour is better then spraying it all at once. you want it to dry onto the mite. you might also try spraying some ivory soap and allowing that to dry. then washing it off. of course you mix the soap down with water. if you use a strong dishwashing detergent you might want to wash it off the plant after allowing it to dry. all the above methods are experimental. You might risk killing the plant. so go forward at your own risk. the commercially sold miticides are neem oil and super fine emulsion of parafin wax sold as a super fine oil. I am not sure how cooking oil, or dish soap might effect the plant. ivory liquid should be much gentler than a harsh detergent. other miticides are extremely poisonous and dangerous to use.
