Well I did go home with 5 bags that first time I saw them, and I opened one. It looked right, except there was one small patch of green (circumference of a coffee mug)on the surface, the color of wet grass.

I know the books say red wigglers, but I'm living proof (or should I say our worm box was) that the garden worms here work fine. They all eat stuff the same way. I think you get something like 1,000 worms to a pound of wigglers, so it's quicker than the couple of hundred I may dump in from the garden. We moved last winter so I didn't keep my worms going, but we'll be setting up again this winter to do kitchen scraps and I'll just be using worms from the garden. I didn't realize that anyone else was doing worms after Natural Garden Supply shut down shop. Maybe there just isn't that much of a demand? If you don't find a source, go ahead and try with garden worms. You don't have much to lose. Gloria

Can we see an image of what it looks like now? It kind of reminds me of a syrphid fly larvae.

DG funny thing about the permaculture its something I always did but i didn't now it had a name till a few years a go when i found a book at a yard sale for a $1. To me it eas just a old way of doing things. I learned gardening from my grandma and great grandma and that was the way they did it so that is the way I do it. Besides i don't have the money to go buy a lot of stuff so i use what I have or can get for free or cheap when i have money. So far I've spent $215 on my garden over three years and $65 of that was for my satsuma I had to have it. When it warms up i will clone you a everbearing mulberry. I will let you know when its ready.
