In fact I don't shop unless it's for plants LOL. Oh guess I lied I did shop at home depot and got me a plant and three bags of soil to fill in the holes I left from moving my rose of sharons....does that count??? Guess not HUH

I did end up having to take the GK's shopping Wednesday, we went to the base tho and I had to get GS a coat because we forgot it at my house and I didn't feel like driving back home just for his coat....he needed a new one anyway, and can use the old one for playing outside.

I didn't plan on buying a plant it just happen to be sitting in the iles I had to go down and seen a red desert rose, I have a pink but wanted a red one. Only 5 bucks HEY...My kinda sale

BTW....U know you'd do it all over again with DD ....that's what being a parent is all about.....Count your blessing's she wants to be with you :)

You are braver than me! We went to Lowes in the afternoon since we were near there anyway and I got some grow lights for my plants in the garage and hubby saw a LED flashlight with a tripod stand he wanted that was half price. He is a flashlight addict, lol. He send me to get the batteries for it while he waited in line and when I came back with 2 packs he said why so many? I told him to read the package. It took 3 batteries for each of the 3 light so I needes 9. He got it anyway and it was a dissapointment. With that many batteries it should have been a lot stronger. Oh well. That was my big adventure, lol.

I went to Lowes to get poinsettias, they were buy one get one free just on Friday. I ran into my cousin, he just moved back from Lubbock. He said he got a job at the botanical gardens in San Antonio. It was so wonderful, I have not seen him in 6 years. Great day! Barbra,

fool4flowers, my DH collects flash lights too LOL. I know where your coming from, although he does get the rechargeable type but will spend way more than I myself would pay for a flash light.
Me I'd go for the cheap 99 cent one and if I lose it no problem or if it breaks no sweat LOL.
I don't know whose the worse at home depot me or DH, I pull him toward the plant or wood section while he pulls mw toward the TOOLS what else.

Honeybunny, I bought some poinsettias today. I wish I'd caught the sale yesterday. We were right there by Lowes. Darn!

We always buy flashlights but they somehow disappear. I think the kids borrow them and forget to put them back.

Barb, I know just what you mean. I have a hard time passing Lowes without stopping and we have to check out the sales even if we go in for a light bulb.

I was all alone on "Black Friday" searching for my good friend Carolann(sniff sniff). Seriously, it was sort of like a dream only I woke up later and one of my kids had a new jacket and the other had a new pair of pants. I was barely able to find myself in that crowd. I'd never gone out on Black Friday and was curious what it was like.
I'm probably the only person who only picked up a jacket and a pair of pants. Everyone else seemed to be doing acrobatics with things to buy that put the cirque De Sol to shame. I managed not to point and laugh in fear of angering the other shoppers who had to keep up this balancing act for AN HOUR. Next year I think I'm gonna sleep in. I'll bet 5 bucks Carol is out with Holly huntin' down deals! LOL!PJ

PJ, I think I'll follow your advice and sleep in next year too.

Hey, I did the black Fridays, sales when my kids were young. I was in line at 6am waiting to get a cabbage patch doll, and masters of the universe action figures. Thank goodness they grew up, my baby will be 27 in March. I have no grandchildren, its cheaper to shop on the internet than going to the stores, and its delivered to my house. Barbra, my DD was 5 when they came out and back then I'd give her the Sears catalog and let her pick what she wanted then we'd write a letter to Santa with her request. ALL she wanted was a Cabbage Patch Kid.
She had been very good that year (well sorta good) so I went everywhere looking for one. I stood in line at Toys R Us early in the morning and they just ran out right before they got to me. The ad said "one per person" but people had carts full of them and I wanted so bad to grab one from someone's cart and run.

We were building our first new house and I heard on the radio that if you buy your carpet there they would give you a cloth face Cabbage Patch Kid. The cloth face dolls were a lot more expensive then the regular ones. They also said they would beat any carpet price so guess what I did!! I headed to Plano and picked out my carpet.
We still have that Cabbage Patch Kid in my closet.

My mom called Saturday to chat and said that my 76 year old Dad had gotten up and driven over to Walmart at 6am on Friday to get a new 17 inch flat screen computer monitor!If someone had told me he would be out shopping on Black Friday I would have said he must have been abducted by aliens.It goes to show that if the motivation is strong enough anything is possible....

The places that sold the tvs really cheap and the Wiis had people in line camped out. I told my DD that I'd have to buy her one before I did something like that.
We avoided Wally World until after the rush. Those people seem to be crazy. That's probably the most packed store on that day.

I think they opened at 5 so he probably didn't get one.

I guess somehow I've avoided knowing what black friday is. I mean, I knew people went madly shopping on the day after thanksgiving, but I never knew that there were big sales. Are the prices really that much better? Don't they have the same sales later on too? I need edumacation.

They had $100. down comforter sets for $25. and you got $10. off for every $50. you spent. They also had portable DVD players for $70. with a $30. rebate and an extra $10. off for spending over $50. Big rolls of wrapping paper were 33 cents a roll. One store had $49. digital photo key chains for $9.99.

The sony playstation games were $9.99 in some stores we went to and board games for $2.00.

I have never experienced Black Friday although thru my Aunt who was a buyer for a big department store, i know how meaningful that day is! My kids grew up on military posts and the biggest "I want-need-want that!" years were overseas with little commercial influence. Now I am a grandparent (x5) and Oh, how different and fun this all is not being the Santa Claus! And this year I did lots of BF buying over the net....sales plus free shipping! I even have my new artificial tree up tho not decorated. Now, this artificial tree is almost a crime for me who delegated Hubby in charge of bringing in the fresh tree and to decorate it--on Christmas Eve! What a wonderful mad rush that all was! I think all my outdoor gardening has made this rather heartless transition to pretty but plastic easier and my bad-back guy just brought in a bottle of cedar spray to ease the tension of this less-mess "new". Guess we are getting delegated to the sidelines now, but still having great fun and have great memories.

Christmas is easy here. I didn't buy a single thing for Christmas at Black Friday. My boys get a new jacket for winter as soon as the first (sorta) freeze hits. My younger outgrew a pair of pants. I meant to get two jackets but I accidentally picked up one that I didn't want. I couldn't go back and exchange it or anything. That's a drawback to BF shopping.
For Christmas I usually do homemade candy shipped to the relatives. This year they wanted pictures too. Candy and pictures for everyone except the kids. The kids get one present to unwrap, a couple stocking stuffers, candy and money. We go in for pics this week by appointent. I'll ship the pics off first then follow up with the candy.
My Christmas tree is fake. I wish I could do a real tree but it's so dry/warm here I'm just terrified of fire.No matter how much I water the thing it just turns to tinder in a couple days. I have a ton of other real plants to balance it out! LOL! PJ

Mikeandbarb, My husband is a mechanic and always wants a brighter light to see better inside the engines and such and we fish a lot at night so I haven't seen any kind of light without a cord that is not either at the shop, in the house or one of the vehicles, lol. As for the Christmas tree I couldn't figure out where to put one in our new house between the plants, animals and furniture and no convenient outlets so I decorated the giant evergreen just outside the front door, lol.

Had to get the wife's gift, so I went about 9 am, in time to get the deal, but after the insanity of the opening hours.

I got that and went back home again. I am not likely to hit the stores again until after the New Year's returns are over, and everyone has gone home to roost, during their credit card pay-off period.
