Thanks for your speedy replies! Everything is grown as a house plant in Hong Kong, we have no yards. I've seen them anchored in a clump of pond soil in a bowl of water, or just growing in plain water. I decided that the clay pellets were stifling the new leaves so I removed them and put some pebbles in the bottom of the jar to raise the level. The pennywort is just sitting in an inch or so of water now, roots submerged, leaves and stalks above. I hope that's OK. I have some hydroponic fertilizer, should I put some in once in a while?

Defrost - the photo of this little Rose Breasted Grosbeak gal (think itÂs a female not male, but not sure) was taken very quickly through my kitchen window at about 6p.m. from about 25Â-30Â away from the feeder. The camera is a Canon SX10 IS. ItÂs because of admiring the photos taken by Claire in Cape Cod, also shot with a Canon, that I bought this camera last month. Setting was on AUTO, which so far, is the safest mode for me. This camera, with its 20x optical zoom, is soooo much more capable than IÂll ever be with it. The hummer below was taken from inside a house from about 8Â away from the window feeder- still set on AUTO. Through glass and into the morning the sun, the camera (not me) got this detail. Have to say that as a forever-to-be amateur, this camera makes me want to take pictures. Cute little hummer, eh? Jane

Hmmm...maybe some kind of Echevaria...? That's my best guess looking at the flowers. I'm sure other more knowledgeable members will chime in with a more specific answer. Tyler
