Oxi Clean and Saving Seeds

I have been saving seeds for awhile using the time honored method of removing the seeds from the tomatoes and letting them ferment in jars for a few days and then running the smelly mess through a screen and washing them and then drying them etc. This year one of my seed batches started to sprout after 3 days of fermenting. I was complaining to a pumpkin growing friend who told me I should enter the modern world. He does the exact same thing that I do except instead of allowing the seeds to ferment he adds a tablespoon of Oxi Clean to his removed seeds along with a cup or two of water in a bowl, mixes it up and says in one hour he removes the seeds, now clean, and proceeds to let them dry etc. He says that he avoids the mess, doesn't have concerns about sprouting etc and ends up with perfectly good seeds. Anyone have much experience with using Oxi Clean in saving tomato seeds?
