I'd have to go over to Harvest to see when I asked the ? about seeds being viable, I forget when I started fermenting these. It's been a busy week. But 5-6 days already now. No mold on top, just all the tomato "stuff" floated to the top and got fluffy, clear water down below (some from tomato b/c it was more than what I put in). I've got more tomatoes and OM seems not to have as much LB as the others (Golden Queen and CP are worst) but I hesitate to save seed this late with the disease in the tunnel now. I do have more OM seed from Sandhill, it just didn't germinate well so I thought I'd save seed from my plants this year. And darn, there was 1 variety I had 2 plants of from trade, I think it was a cross, it wasn't what was labeled (Camp Joy), it was bigger and almost looked like Red Zebra, I have to see if I get any more off those 2 plants b/c I'd like to save seed. Next year instead of selling or using first fruits and disposing of seed, I'll save the seed and not wait until late in the season. This is first year saving tomato seed. I've got beans in the garage and still on the plants I need to collect seed from too. Edit: I just checked, I started fermenting them Tuesday. Jeaninne: I understand how upset you are. Based on my own experience with marking the natural stones (marble & limestone) in my own home on more than one occasion with over zealous cleaning, I suspect this will become much, much less noticeable -even to you- in a matter of about two weeks of regular use. This has been my experience & I hope it will be yours as well. Most of my "oops" are completely unnoticeable after a month or so. The natural stone patinas in such a way that I think this will blend or disappear completely.

When I read about people spending a great deal of money, or working so hard to clean a wedding gown, I have to tell my story. After our wedding, I had my dress cleaned and put into a "Heritage Box". I stored it in our basement. A few years later, my then four year old son and a few friends were playing in our basement. I heard this shrieking laughter coming from downstairs, so thought I better check to see what they were up to. When I walked into the room they were in, I gasped when I saw they had found my wedding gown, and laid it on the tile floor, and were using it as a slip n slide! They all stopped and looked at me, waiting, I'm sure, for an explosion. All I could do was laugh! I only have boys, so I knew the dress would never be used again, but the story has given many a good laugh over the years! Good luck with the washing--I know a woman in our community who makes wedding gowns, and she always recommends washing them.

I have to comment on something I have noticed as a 52 year old guy, The original Tide powder of the late 70's and 80's didn't need help removing stains, The Ariel powder used in Pakistan and the middle East dose not need help removing stains. This is not conjecture but a fact, The first thing I noticed when in Islamabad that to spite filthy conditions with unclean water everyones cloths where brilliant and smelled clean. The water there is pumped from ditches into a huge tank above the roof weekly, sometimes it smells bad and drinking it won't just make you sick it will kill you even if you are from there. It has to be treated and boiled before drinking or cooking with it. It is gravity fed into a old washing machine and a scoop of Ariel dose more work than a whole box of our Tide! It leaves the dirtiest cloths on earth ,sweat, dirt, cooking oil,spices just to name a few, clean white and smelling fresh and sweet. The laundry soaps we get are not the same formula as in the U.K. or any where else in the world. Same with Persil. The stuff we get is very neutered, we pay more for crap and boast how good crap is because we have never known any different. There is no really good cleaning products available in the U.S.A. Some are just worse than others.
