herman--- Not my photo...just one I found on the web. I THINK the leaves are dissected in Randi's first pic...but it's hard to be certain. I think I have an Orangeola...it's either that or a Red Select. It was a gift and the tag has gone walkabout...and the people who gave it to me "can't remember." It's a new tree...and I was out of town for it's "fall show." :^( I'm hoping to get good pics next spring/summer/fall.

yea, luckally i havent seen many cops up there. i have a lawyer who should keep them from sticking their hand tooo deep into my wallet if i do get caught. if you ride, i recomend www.easttnriders.com the forums there are awesome. the dragon is dangerous, and honestly not as much fun as the skyway, or brushy mountain (the one near oak ridge TN). i need to start going at off times, instead of saturday/sunday afternoons. if i have to cross one more double yellow to pass a minivan doing 11 mph in a 30 zone im going to quit riding there. if you do ride, i highly recomend the ETR website i posted above, we have memebers from AL, west/middle TN, GA, KY, NC, even yankees who come down a few times a year to ride our sweet roads. my SN there is HandsomeRyan. (i hijacked my own thread, sorry- back to plants) i think instead of propigating a bunch of crap that no one wants (walmart AV's and aloe) i will just steal a bunch of stuff from my moms garden. should be good for all kinds of stuff that people might accually want.

Good to see you here also Doug. YES...get a palmetto. Than have done well here...keep the snow and ice off them (first year or so) during bad winter 'events' no heat required BUT... should a freeze from HE## hit us....do anything to cover them and keep them near zero or above..and dry.. They will do fine in the house untill late march or so... Im so glad you got thru the winter just fine...it was mild though..my lowest low was only 11*F...that a z8a low .LOL. I can only hope for a oncore.LOL Dont plant anything in your yard you will regret later. I have to s.magnolias thats on my hit list...they grow to fast,drop too many leafs...and block needed winter sun... talk wit ya soon intimidator

Thanks for all the kind comments! Since these photos I was able to get a few more migration photos before the rain set in, but kept hoping I could get some more. We spent one weekend at a family reunion in IN, then worked out of town as extras in the Disney movie Secretariat during two very cold, windy weeks (long hours, miserable work, but at least I got to see John Malkovich and Diane Lane). This weekend coming up might have some sun, but I've not seen any migrants for awhile, so our migration action may be over.
