That was interesting. I have seen some pretty neat stories about crows raised by humans and their attachment. Wonder if Harry Whittington would start cawing if you walked by with a Dick Cheney mask?

Yes that was very interesting.....but I would be even more interested to know where I can get a job doing fun stuff like that! LOL

I'd read about that on Twitter, plus heard the interview with the researcher on NPR yesterday.

The crows certainly all know me here. If I'm on a strange mountain and a young local crow starts the "danger! human!" call, another crow will quickly shush it.

I spilled cracked corn on the ground by our pond this spring and crows kept spies tailing me for months in case I did it again. I'd be deep in the woods staking out a bird and notice a crow keeping an eye on me, high in the canopy. Eventually, they gave up.

When I first moved here, crows tried to lead me to deer who were lying down in cover, hoping I'd shoot them and they could get the scraps. After trying for about six months they gave up, spread the word, and no crows have tried to lead me to game for years

In Haiti, the White-necked crows learned my name from my parrot and called my name from the treetops whenever I rode my horse

But all birds can tell humans apart. The birds from my feeder fly to my car window when the seeds are low, or land in front of me and call to me in the woods. Even hummingbirds hover in front of me. They know who feeds them.
