Newbie (sort of)

I have been on garden web for years yet I just found this forum. I am usually on the quilt forum and several of us love to camp and rv so we started looking and lo and behold, here you are. I do hope I can contribute something, I know I will learn lots.

hey bev! me too! LOL I usually hang out on the quilt forum. I didn't realize there was a camping forum. I have been camping in one way or another since I was 6 months old! I guess you could say it's in the blood. We do have a pop up camper we use for my elderly mom, but DH and I still tent it. Our aging bodies get away with this with the use of a double high air mattress, always a good night sleep!
Anxious to help and learn...

Hi Beverly and Lisa and all of you here on the Camping Forum Â

IÂm another quilter jumping over to this forum. Maybe we should warn the campers that they might get invaded by quilters.

My husband and I are somewhat new RVers. This will be our third summer with our camper. This is the first summer that we are able to take long trips. In a couple of days we will de-winterize the camper and set off for a short trip.

I look forward to looking in and learning.

Thanks for drawing. It explains. However, I'd bet money that you would regret creating the concave shape as it will turn out to be much less practical than you think it will be, and not worth the trade-off for the design interest advantage. Where you're making it skinny -- at its central area -- is likely to be where you'll wish it had its greatest depth. When it comes to deck and patio shapes, simple and straightforward is better than employing a gimmick or contrivance. We're together in our understanding about what decking is made of. However, it's not going to be the best choice of materials and methods when your house floor level is so close to grade. It would be better to install a patio of hard (brick/stone/concrete, etc.) material. You might consider extending the house floor level to the outside on a fairly spacious landing and then stepping down one step for the remainder of the outdoor area, or expand the landing so that the deck is split level. It would depend on how you use. If it's a part time dance floor, split level wouldn't be the best choice.

Hey Donna, Thanks for the reply. The first flower isn't as dark as I've heard Carmen described, but it definitely has the flower shape. The other red will bloom in a day or two, so I'll have that one to compare it to. I took a wild guess with the second one. I think it most closely resembles Eos from the Emaryllis site. I hope someone can give it a proper ID. Here is a bloom from Christmas Gift. The flower stems aren't that long and the flowers aren't that big. I've heard that these are the characteristics of this variety. Can someone confirm/ID this one as well, please?

Lucky you, the house is a neutral and you can choose what you like! For the front, are you thinking low like juniper or do you want more color? Are there already foundation plantings or are you starting from scratch? We got boxwood and dwarf yaupon with our older home and trimmed and kept them for year round green. I'm north of you but Jewels of Opar, the lime colored one, really brightens my shady area and doesn't look gaudy. Mine blooms right up to first freeze. My design style is far from formal, I don't know what to suggest :-)

Best of luck cindiann! I know how much I love my nesting Blues, and I wish some for everyone. When you speak of your range location, I am assuming that it's Eastern Blues you are referring to. What about Western Bluebirds? I don't have any experience with them since I live in GA, but I believe that they will use nestboxes.

Hello all my friends!

This is our 2nd summer with the RV. Sold the pop-up and got a small gently used C-class to camp and travel to bicycle rides. Sure is nice to be able to be able to take a nice hot shower after a long hot ride. I love my little RV. We need to plan a camping trip for all of us.
