Very pretty way to display BB. I'm just starting to appreciate this mini. It does well in the ground too. Thanks for sharing, bragu. Here are my BBs, divisions from 1 hosta planted in 2009.

Unmistakable species. Yes, this is indeed a male Painted Bunting. Nice find. I am blessed enough to have them in my area during the breeding season.

Thanks Pagan and Martin! Think I mentioned in that earlier post, I bought Star of Luck and Noble Concubine seeds but I have no clue as to which seeds this could be from and it is 8 yrs ago! It will be interesting to see what the other flowers look like on the second one that's in bud. It's progressing nicely btw. The others both have very different leaves to this one...these are long and thin, almost rubbery and with a pinkish underside while the other two have shorter more rounded leaves which are a vibrant green. Regarding the flowers, maybe as the plant matures the flowers will change somewhat as I know this happens with Plumerias which I have grown, and I think Adeniums too? Anyway, it may be small, single, and pink, but it's a flower :))))) Gill UK

Lucky you. I love Blue Buntings. Thanks for sharing your photo. A few robins, cedar waxwings migrating have stopped in for water. Then all our usual neighbors: Cardinals nests in 3 places, bluejays fighting yesterday, mockingbirds fighting the jays, black-cap chickadees "giggling" daily, wrens squawking a lot, and the occasional titmouse can be seen. I can hear sap suckers in the large trees, but have yet to catch a glimpse of one. We saw the occasional goldfinch and cuckoo over at my last house 8 blocks away, but none have shown up in this yard yet. I swore off birdseed feeders, as it attracted rats at my last place. Actually saw them get up on it and on the ground where seed would drop. But the birds enjoy my Yaupon Holly berries, holly berries, asparagus fern berries and I'm soon going to be planting 3 American Beautyberry shrubs. :)

That feeder is a Gardner/Homestead Party Feeder. I shoot for a lot of birdfeeder manufacturers. This is a Summer Tanager pic I took Saturday. If you want to see more of my pics, you should visit the Roy Neher WIldlife page on my website at RNWPHOTO.NET. Not meaning to sound commercial, I just have a lot of pics there.

Those are beautiful birds!!! I just started having an IB come up w/ my GoldFinches to eat... Hoping he'll tell the others. :) I've never seen the multi-colored one around here (MO), not sure if we have those, but wish we did! This is my first year bird watching & I'm loving it, just hope more varieties show up.

Birdguy~ I go to tinypic.com & upload my photo there & resize to message board size. Then when it's uploaded, copy the "HTML for Websites" line & paste directly into your message. Hope this helps.

Love the rare Buntings..amazing to see them all at one feeder

I upload my photos to Picasa Web Albums, copy the embed link at any of the four size choices, copy/paste it to my posts, and the html shows up as a photo in the preview.

Maybe you could fill out your MyPage so we can see where you live, what type of camera equipment you use
