Butane stove help.

I need butane cartridges for this.

Does anyone know where I can purchase some?

The canister, they call it a cartridge, is about 3" in diameter and 3" tall.

It's a nice little stove, I would hate to throw it away because I cannot find refills.

Can't you write to the company that is here in the USA? I'd think that would be the way to do it. I have never seen one of those stoves, so i can't help you!

Sounds, too, like it might be a stove with a little "age" on it and no telling if it's still being made and by whom. Besides, the price now-a-days for the these off brand replacement throw-away fuel tanks can be astronomical. Let me give you an example ... a friend of mine is getting to the age where back-packing is just not a good idea and he gave me his "GAZ"back-packing stove. It very well might be a good stove for back packers but for my use, not so good. The disposable butane fuel tanks are expensive, plus they do not hold the fuel content of the 16oz Coleman types. I took my tent up to the North Carolina mountains this past summer for a 5-day outing to see if we could catch a few trout and we camped streamside. I made the mistake of taking this GAZ stove, along with the two or three extra tanks that my friend had given to me, and neglected to take my old single burner standby Peak stove.

Well, used those GAZ tanks up kinda fast and then went into Brevard to see if I could find who might carry this brand. Found an outdoor provision store that carried them but the price per tank was $6.95 each! To be sure, their Coleman tanks were high, too (something like $3.50), but they contained more fuel! I ended up going down the road a little ways to the K-Mart and bought a single burner (made in China) butane stove that uses the Coleman type tank. The stove was only $8.00 - plus their store brand of Coleman type 16oz tanks were $1.99 each. The end of this story is that I gave that Gaz stove, along with the pouch that held the stove and it's accessories and what was left of the fuel in the last remaining tank, to a woman back-packer. She was so delighted!

Now I have another back-up stove to the other back-up stove, which is a back-up stove to the main popup camper stove!

It would seem that the ultimate solution already mentioned is to bury the tank. Oh, that we could all be magicians like David Copperfield and make large objects disappear before our very eyes. I get the impression that you are seeking some kind of magic or "landscaping secret" that will just make your problem disappear -- ain't going to happen. However, it is possible to ameliorate things through thoughtful design. About all the helpful information you have given us is that you have an old house with a tank located somewhere in the United States in zone 8 Â not much to go on. The answers you have received thus far are proportional to your input. We donÂt have a clue because you havenÂt given us any. An all too frequent misunderstanding is that landscape design is formulaic. Formulas only work when you can control the variables. Landscape design is largely site specific. Unless you can provide more information and hopefully some good photos which provide adequate context, you are pretty much left with three ambiguous choices: bury, fence or screen. IronBelly

What butane stove do you use?

Oh I thought people on other threads recommended butane. I'm fine with propane. You use a table top stove inside? I have a propane camp stove, table top type, but when the wind blows, it blows out the flame. Dh has talked (for years) about getting a plate welded to the back to keep the wind from blowing through, but I don't know if that would fix the problem. We also have a burner on our propane grill, but it's not level when a heavy pot is on there, so it wouldn't work without some kind of support. I'm sure that will happen as quickly as the other one. Butane burner for canning?

I figured out a way to use the butane burner inside--I put it under the exhaust hood in the science lab! Plus opened the window next to the hood. We kinda froze but the canning demo went well. I used a hot plate for heating up beakers to heat up the canning brine! That worked well too! My class really enjoyed the canning demo, but I think the part they most enjoyed was the tea and crumpets I served afterwards, with my homeade strawberry jam and homeade apple rosehip jelly. As for the butane burner, it will be nice in the summer for camping, but it is not that effective for canning--too small. It took 1.5 cans of butane and about 45 min. to come up to BWB temps. I also don't like the fact that the butane cans have to be dumped afterwards--more carp for the landfills. From now on I'm saving my money for a new stove. For the price of a good high temp. single burner I'm halfway there. I've pretty much shot my old stove to heck. Even with all new electrical contacts. It's not just the canning. I am not destined to be a good cook on an electric stove--too many of my things boil over!

"petalique Do either of your use butane? The Iwatani only uses butane. Others like the Gas One can use Propane." I think they all use butane for this type of portable stove. FOAS, pinhole leaks can be caused by many reasons.In your case, most likely the following: 1. Not likely, I assume your are in NY area. Bad water supply (too much chlorine). 2. Water velocity too high. Water can be corrosive at high speed. For instance, they use high pressure water to cut metal. petalique may be correct. Whenever two dissimilar metal is in water, one will be a sacrificial metal. Many location plumbing codes require isolation when copper pipe is married to, say black iron pipe, insulation is required to decouple the two metals. For temporary repair, go to HD and buy a few hose clamps. Cut a piece of rubber hose and clamp it on. For permanent repair, ask the plumber to use type "L" pipe. dcarch
