lite campers with small wheels

I am taking delivery of a neww 2005 Jay feather 23ft. with 13 inch tires. Has anyone got a trailer with the same size tires and have you had any trouble they just seem small. The Jay feather weights around 4100 lbs dry and has a double axel so what do you think?

Pennreel - for sure, they seem almost inadequate, but let me assure you, they are tough little tires. There have been so many changes in tires in the last few years, in their construction and design, and I'm sure there will a bunch more in the next few!

First off, they are designated "ST" tires, which stands for "special trailer"; sidewalls are a lot more stiff, helps minimize sway. If you were to use a designated "P" tire, which stands for "passenger", the trailer would fish tail all over the place because of the soft sidewall. Overall, the trailer tire is made tougher because the trailer does not have the complex shock absorbing suspensions of an automobile or truck, so the tire has to be able to take some tough knocks. A friend of mine has a son-in-law who works for a large tire distributor and they handle all kinds of brands and types of tires; he tells me the narrow trailer tires wear better than if they were wider ... and that they actually track better. One more thing the SIL says, when you go around a corner or a curve with a trailer, it's better that it slides sideways just a tad; got something to do with this tracking again. Anyway, the narrow tires do that better than the wider ones. Oh, and they are cheaper when you go to replace them.

I run 13" tires on a large (single axle) popup camper for four years and they did a fine job. Just watch the tire pressure. Make sure you keep the amount in the tire that's listed on the sidewall, i.e., if it says 55psi or 65psi, run that exact amount, no less. The only problems I've ever heard about these sized trailer tires, is not keeping the air pressure where it's supposed to be. Oh, don't store (or park) the trailer on bare ground for long periods of time; keep something under them, between the tire and the ground, or they will dry rot.

Christin, other than the Sempervivums and hardy Sedums all my Echeverias and other tender succulents winter in a cool greenhouse. I have kept an Echeveria alive planted in the ground by upturning a black 2 gal. pot over it when the temps dropped, I think it was Echeveria elegans. It's not so much the cold it's the wet that does them in. A lot of them can tolerate 32* for a time. I have a 3 tiered plant stand with lights in the basement I should experiment with a few this winter. When I get mine all rounded up and sorted out I'll post a few pictures of the ones I have. What size of tires are on your camper

sounds about right! A word of caution--read the owners manual that comes with the camper. Find out what the correct tire pressure is for that size of tires! And, by all means, keep that correct air pressure in the tires! Many a camper's trip was ruined by not keeping the air pressure at the reccomended level! Some of the smaller tires were rated for 60lbs. air pressure! Some folks thought that was way too high for those little, teeny tires, so they inflated the tires to just 28-32 lbs, and it didn't take too many miles at 60 mph to have one or both blow out! Carry a tire guage! And check them frequently! Another thing--Have the wheel bearings re-packed at 5-7,000 miles. You don't want them burning out somewhere in the middle of Texas, or where-ever! I towed a tent camper and several travel trailers all over the eastern part of the U.S.A. and didn't have any tire or bearing failures, because i made sure those things were checked frequently! I think the tire size you have on yer rig will be alright. Just be sure you don't over-load it with stuff. Read the instructions, load it up, have it weighed on a truck scale! When we had the tent camper, my oldest son and i decided to go trout fishing, on opening day, up north in Pennsylvania's upper tier. No place for the camper, so we decided to just take the wagon and sleep in it. At bedtime, my son grabbed the heavy sleeping bag, and left me several blankets. During the night, the temperature dropped to 40 degrees, and i about froze! After that trip, i made sure there were plenty of warm blankets for both of us. Next morning, catching a mess of trout, and having them for breakfast warmed me up soon. Years after that, the Fish commission decided folks were eating too many fish, so they now tell us we can catch and release the fish, but can only eat one a week! Took all the fun out of going away to fish!

60s wagon wheel lights - how can I 'prettify' (disguise) them?

I bought 2 similar idea sorta wagon wheel . I used the small solar lights in them and put them on a pole cemented in a hole in the yard . I may use another one I have and hang from a tree limb with a chain use battery tea lights or even better are the white fingertip lights I got from Amazon..little lights kids wear on fingers on Halloween..they have colors too but they do not throw as.much light. They are great for the glass light covers that are at all the thrift stores. Great for parties n just sitting outside. These types can line a walkway when u have company. These r cool because they are bright n cheap.

One thing i forgot to mention: Have an anti-sway device mounted on the hitch mechanism! Nothing worse than having yer trailer start swaying on the interstate or anywhere at speed! Once it starts, you stand a good chance of going into the ditch, or over the hill, or upset, and its very hard to recover from a swaying condition! And, don't tow with a boat trailer hitch! Buy a good heavy duty hitch and you'll be much happier in the long run!
