superbowl sunday!!!

Off topic but hey it's the superbowl and the EAGLES are in it!!

To make this camping related we plan on discussing hubby's planned Grand Canyon trip in May with family members. He is so anxious and is counting the days to his 2nd. trip. It will be camping in the southern rim for 6 days I believe. They just got the permits last week and are planning things.

Hi Lynda! Did you have a party? We had our first ever because my dad wanted to do it! He brought over a lot of cold cuts and put them out on the counter. My daughter fed the dogs and then shut them in the kitched with the cold cuts. By the time I realized what had happened it was too late!

UT OH not good!!! Did the dogs get sick from all the food? I hope not.
We went over to my brother in laws for their annual party. There were 16 people, it was a lot of fun until we figured they weren't going to win. The room went from all these guys being loud and obnoxious to being so quiet. It wasn't too much fun the last half hour or so.
Always next year as I duck leaving the room.

Let's make this a SUPER BOWL recipe thread, eh? I served this couple times with blue chips I buy from World Market. CrockPot Cream Cheese Sausage and Rotel Dip - 8 oz cream cheese - 1 can tomatoes and green chies (aka Rotel), drained - 1 lb breakfast sausage, browned and drained Brown the sausage on the stove, and drain on paper towels. Unwrap the cream cheese, and put it into your crockpot. Chop up the sausage and add on top. Drain the Rotel and add it. Cover and cook on low for about 90 minutes, or on high for 45 minutes. Stir well and eat with tortilla chips.

I made a yummy pot of Butternut & Apple soup. It's a recipe I got on GW in 2006, maybe the cooking forum. You add cannellini beans at the end, and I thought this sounded odd, but it is good and makes it a very filling soup. I don't know who provided the recipe.

BAKED POTATO SOUP (serves 2-4) 1 cup sliced celery 3/4 cup chopped onion 2 TBL butter 2 TBL flour 2 cups half-and-half 1 tBL chopped parsley 1 chicken bouillon cube or 1 tsp chicken granules 1/2 tsp salt 1/4 tsp pepper 4 large baking potatoes, baked & cubed Garnishes: grated Cheddar, sour cream, chopped chives, bacon bits In a large saucepan, saute the celery & onion in butter for 8-10 minutes until tender. Blend the flour with 3/4 cup of the half-and-half. Add to the celery & onions, blending well. Add 1/2 cup water, the parsley, bouillon, salt & pepper. Simmer until heated but do not boil. sitr in the potatoes. Add the remaining half-and-half & heat through without boiling. Where would I buy custard?

Bird's Custard can be made to any consistency you like. Trifle needs a thick custard so I make it thick :-) And custard is just a cooked egg/milk mixture so how flavorful is it supposed to be? If you need it sweeter, just add some sugar! FWIW, I have never seen prepared custard for sale in the refrigerated section of any grocery in my area. Perhaps it is a regional thing?

Around 4 30 in the morning the dog started whining to be let out. he was very fast running to the door so i think it all caught up with him.
