This cannot be a new thing. I too have a one year old vine, no fruit, lots of vine and millions of those very, very small flying insects. Shake the plant and these things swam out like some kind of plague -- but try to find them on the underside of the leaves -- they are not impossible to see but if they do not move you can miss them, unless they fly, then they are truly evident. Also, the leaves now have brown blotches all over them and some are skeletal -- not sure these flies or whatever, are the cause but there are so many that they cannot be beneficial. But, no one seems to have and answer, like this is something unusual. Strange, no one seems to have a solid answer?

Some type of aphid perhaps? If they are, check out this link I found a couple years ago...it's the most natural way to deal with them and when the aphids are all gone, they'll be gone as well... Here is a link that might be useful: Ladybugs Shipped Direct

Really that bad? I usually have swarms of Whiteflies so bad in the front. it's embarrasing when someone walks up to the front door. I noticed they had eggs laid all under my Hollys in front. The Hollys were very old and ugly. I cut them down and put out on the street. This Summer I did't see hardly any. I have heard they usually find a host plant and gravitate towards that. They are particularly fond of Privet (Yuck I don't know why Lol). I was thinking because of the really hot and dry Summer perhaps not many eggs hatched. Anyway back to your original question. It is rather late in the year for this, but next Spring you can try. Purchase a box of ladybugs. You can get online for about 12.00 for 1500 or so. Spray your plants that are having the problems with Whiteflies. so they are damp and release the Lady bugs. They will stay where is damp and plenty of food is present. They will lay eggs, and the lady bug larva (which look like tiny little gila monsters) will devour the whitefly larva before they can mature. Another trick(providing you don't have pets) is use the old fashioned kind of snail and slug bait. The Whitefly larva love it and eat it, then die before they can mature. I hope this is helpful.

I apprecite the thoughts. What can I say? I can't wing Tex-Mex very well (grin!). Gotta step out sometime; I'll get the hange of it. Three things on the recipe you linked Ann, jalapeno (I'd already leaned towards this sub) instead of bell (another sweet ingredient, right?), cilantro, and lime juice. Actually, it makes total sense. That's as Tex-Mex as it comes. I left off the most important signature ingredients. Big duh on my part! HA! Now if I just had a fresh lime juice margarita I could get started...
