Baby Blue antics.....

It is so fun when you get to watch the fledglings interact with the world. Last year I got to do it lots with the sole suvivor I had as she stayed real close to our yard. This year the Blues have really spread themselves all over and not just around our yard. Lately though with some cool and wet weather they have stayed around in the yard longer than usual when visiting the mealworm feeder. This morning one of the boys and the little girl were at the base of the tree, I think checking for bugs in the cracks of the tree and under every leaf and in the grass. I just sat and watched them for awhile and then shot a couple pics, the female always seemed to come up with grass in her mouth. Maybe she is practicing for next Spring! LOL!

Also it is getting hard to tell Dad from the boys and also Mom from the girl here is one of the boys from today and then Dad.....

The babies still have some white spots around their necks yet to tell them apart but won't for long.

Beautiful shots Donna,

This really is a wonderful experience for all of us lucky enuf to have them still around.

Ours continue to come daily, but some days we see just the parents and one or two of the fledges. This evening tho, we had ALL of them flying around the deck, on the nestbox, in the bushes and trees, even on the hummingbird feeder! I do believe we saw all 15 of them at once (both parents and 13 fledges), altho it was really impossible to count them because they were flying all around us. We took a couple hundred photos, but it was late and cloudy so I don't know if any of them will make the gallery.

Anyway, those are some real lovely birds you've got there, and I'm so glad you're getting to see yours too. Thanks for sharing them with us.

Donna, your pictures are ALWAYS a treat! I especially love the first one of the siblings. LOL, I can see she has some grass in her beak! :-)

Lynxe, I'm not willing to go overboard becaues I've found that the prices always go down with availability. I'm just looking around right now, and really wanting a blue=ish daylily. I really like the lighter shades shown in the photo above of "buyorsell888." I'm finding it on the 'net for $12, but wondering if I should wait and see if I can find a better one. I'm drooling over "Another Day in Paradise" and "Master of Disguise" (see Blue Ridge Daylilies 2011) -- neither of which is a real blue, but with gorgeous blue markings. I'm thinking I might be able to afford them after about ten years, LOL.

OMG can we relate. We have a ten month old (who looks like Shadow's clone by the way). He is a maniac. We have never had a kitten like this (he is our 4th) and our joke is that we actually got a dog. He digs in the trash. He begs constantly by sitting on his haunches and waving his front paws at you whenever he wants something. He chews - on anything - furniture, boxes, etc. He fetches (which is cute but less so at 5 am). I routinely search for new cat toys to keep him from being bored - you can totally tell when he is. We too are waiting on a bit of maturity but are worried that the chewing is just his personality!
