Possible Denton County Plant Swap

I have had a few people that were highly interested in the Fort Worth Plant Swap tell me that I should do something like that up here in my neck of the woods.

Not that I would forsake all you Fort Worthers. Heavens to Betsy NO! You guys are my buddies now:-) But I have a few people that are interested in a plant swap that is closer to our local and I thought that other people would be interested in it as well.

I wouldn't mind setting something up for springtime. I would love to hear from anybody that is interested in coming! Chime in and give me your vote if you live in the Denton County area and would be interested in attending.

Sylvia, if I do something like this could I enlist your help? You did a really great job on pulling the Fort Worth swap together and I would probably have some questions for you along the way.

I bet a Denton County swap would draw lots of participants-

with all the growth in the area, there must be *tons* of people who need a gardening connection!

You know, I bet your right. I think as long as the word gets out and it's well planned it could be a really successful swap.

And just think of all the new plants that could be introduced into other circles....

Gardening is such a wonderful hobby!

I had such a blast at the swap, only sorry I didn't get to actually meet or talk with everyone! I think a few escaped that. :) I was especially glad to see the newbies and some old gardening friends. I learned that Nana and I were at our first Plant Swap like 10 years ago, it was held at the Lewisville School District Outdoor Learning Center, it was also about the same time I met Carrie, I think. I went home with less than I took, which was my goal...Still came back with more than I had planned. Pictures will be posted in the Gallery when I get my hands on them. My friend Kelly took 75 photos so I'll have to go through them and pick the best ones to post. Thank You everyone! Its you guys who make it such a good swap! OK get your goodies planted and plan your propagation for the Fall Swap.

Wow, Thanks everyone. Okay, debbiedo my daylillies are a bright orange like pumpkins and i believe they hae a smattering of "freckles" on the inside. They were here when we bout the house. They are in shade and put out quite a few. I can dig some up for you. carrie a flame acanthus would be really nice. Rebea, I am wanting anything that will draw butterflies and hummingbirds to my yard. Husband wants a kind of lush tropical feel in the back yard so I am trying to accomodate. Not good with names of plants yet, but love all kinds of plants. the more unusual the better so anything you want to share I will take good care of it. I can't wait to meet all of you lovely ladies. Oh and rebecca. i hae a texas sage (small rooted from last summer),only about 4 inches tall or so, I'll bring you. You can keep the cute kid, i already hae 4 cuties myself!!!

(sorry ml) Here is what I have to offer: 1 Curly willow , 1 blue mist flower, 1 black and blue salvia, 8 comphrena - Strawberry Fields; 3 thyme; 3 Greek oragano; 2 small pots with heirloom onion- red cajun rooted cuttings from last fall/winter: 2 dwf ivy, 1 bouganvilla (fuscha); 1 Crepe myrtle (Raspberry Parfait ?) see pic.; 1 pot with 2 plumaria cuttings (pink and not yet leafed out); Seedlings: Amarylis - 3 Bolero X unk. red; 2 Lemon/Lime (2011 seeds planted last fall) Day Lily: try this link to see pictures http://www.daylilydb.com/ These are 2011 seeds planted last Sept. & in gal pots. Rebecca, I would definitely be interested. I am south of Denton - west of Lewisville before Argyle. There was a plant swap in Lewisville at one time, but they did not have it this year. I am sure it is a lot of work, and I really admire anyone willing to take it on.
