Do lizards prey on eggs?

I had Carolina wren nest in my flower pot last month - all was fine, babies grew up and fledged without problem. But her second nest does not seem to be as successful. She made it in a new place and I accidentally flooded it with water while watering my plants. There was just one egg so I guessed she is still in process of laying. I dried nest with a hair dryer (I removed the egg while doing it) and put layer of small rocks under it to protect it from water in the pot. Today I went to check on it and it is empty! Any idea what can happen? I don't have any furry predators on my yard and definitely not on porch, but I do have some lizards.
