Very Much OT....Go Away Gustav!

Oh no, not again!! My apologies in advance for wasting anyone's time..

Once again, we are preparing for the worst and hoping for the best, and once again our New Orleans children, daughter, son-in-law and two grandchildren arrived yesterday, who btw, lost everything during Katrina! Our small town of Meridian in East Central MS suffered a great deal of damage during Katrina. We were without power for seven very long days...in the sweltering southern August heat! I will never forget the sound of trees crashing all around us, and praying that the huge pines in our backyard would fall AWAY from the house...our prayers were answered, but many homes here were destroyed or damaged.

So, here we are again, stocking up on batteries, water, non-perishable food staples, etc. The generator is ready to go and I hope, enough gas to power it!

As the awful memories of Katrina still linger, I pray that all human life will be spared and that those along our beautiful gulf coast and New Orleans, or anywhere in the path of Gustav, will make it to safety...secondly, I can't help but be concerned about all the wildlife who will become displaced or even worse...I wonder about the hummers making their trek over the Gulf and what will happen.

The children were planning on returning to New Orleans on Monday, but it looks as if contraflow will begin today or tomorrow, making that impossible, so I am very thankful they are here.

I ask for your prayers as this most unwelcome visitor makes its way into the Gulf...Oh, and I've stocked up on bird seed and sugar for nectar just in case roads might become impassable..My dh laughed and commented that if we lose power, the birds were going to be better off than us..I think I spent more on "birdy" food than "people" food!!LOL...

And Harold, if you're reading this, your family is also in my prayers...hope your Mom will be ok and that she will make a speedy recovery.

Sorry again for this OT post, but thanks for listening!

Donna
