Since nobody else has answered you, I will give it my best shot based on my experience. Usually they just ignore the unhatched eggs. Sometimes a parent bird will push the eggs to the edge of the nest or remove them. Wow, 105 degrees. It's amazing that the single chick was able to survive that heat. Wishing you the best with the remaining chick.

Thank you! Would or should I remove the two eggs? The hatchling was doing fine last night. Today is supposed to be the last of the 100+ degree heat. The box is well ventilated and with only one chick maybe it is better as there is only one to feed. Parents are in and out frequently and I keep them supplied with live meal worms.

If those eggs were viable they definitely would have hatched by now. I know a lot of people just leave them. Personally I would remove them as they make quite a mess if they break. This is based on my experience with pet birds. I have never had an unhatched Bluebird egg yet. So do whatever you feel is best. Hope this helps.

I never remove eggs and sometimes find unhatched eggs that were under the hatchlings and somehow they never break. I would make more of a mess trying to remove them so i leave them be. I think there is plenty of room in there with only one baby. Like Kendra says it's amazing the one baby survived..

4 straight days over 100 and the little baby survives......the Mom & Dad are great parents. Water and meal worms twice a day. I will leave the egg be I just don't want to disturb what is working.

Wow, that is amazing. That is one tough little chick. It is great that you are feeding them. I'm sure that helps. Please keep us informed as to how the baby does. Sure hope he/she is able to stay going in that hot weather and fledge successfully.

Baby is now 15 days old. Parents continue to feed. The last two mornings strange activity. The parents showed up for morning mealworms. I looked out and see 3-4 juveniles. At least I think they are. They are light brown with bright blue edgings sling their wings. They have spotted streaked breasts with hints of color. I thin they are the hatchlings from the first brood raised away from here. The parents spend time shooing them away from the box. They sit along the fence jostling each other for a better vantage spot. These juvis keep trying to enter the box but mom and dad are having no part of it.
