UPDATE: Unwanted Craft Supply Robins....Are In Flight!!!

The Robins have left home! Robin A is flying north and Robin B is flying south.

IMPORTANT: This way no one who signed up for both boxes should be getting them at the same time.....SO KEEP THAT IN MIND.....don't try to cram all of your stuff into one box if you signed up for both.

The Rules:

1). Take as much as you like out of the Robin(s) as long as you can fill it back up.

2). Please do your best not to hold the Robin for more than three days! (Weekends, holidays, and emergencies not withstanding)

2). Cross your name off of the list that is inside the Robin.

3). Find the address label (included) for the next player in line (players are listed in order of flight).

4). Take and use one of the blank Delivery Confirmation labels that I have included.

5). Reseal the Robin and send it on it's way. Make sure your postal worker scans the DC label into the computer. That ensures that the burden of responsibility is shifted from you to the USPS.

6). Post the DC# on this thread. This is a must!

7). Enjoy your newfound treasures!

Hi guys finally made it back to the library today to check on e-mail and posts.

Netta, I sent the box off last week and according to the USPS it has been delivered. See message below.

So the box has been sent to Monica's house and apparently Lisa didn't get the email asking her to send to Jodi instead since Monica won't be home until the 1st. So now we just have to hope that the box doesn't get stolen off her front porch in the meantime. I checked a satellite map using her addy and it seems she is on something of main thouroughfare that at the time of the satellite pic was not too heavily populated (who knows though since the sat pic of my parents house seems to be about a year and a half old)....so cross your fingers ladies!

Debi and Debbie, I have planted seeds outdoors also. I got behind in the winter sowing in containers so I figured I would just try direct sowing on some of them and see how they do. I have noticed larkspur and love in a mist coming up from last seasons seeds so hopefully some of these I am putting out will take off too. My daffodils are starting to open up all over so it is starting to look like spring here. Also the Bradford pear tree is budding out. Of course Oklahoma has a lot of last minute freezes so I am hoping that the cold doesn't get everything. I plan to finish off the last of the winter sowing I was going to do and then I guess I will start planting seeds indoors on window seals. I really do like starting the little plants myself. I know that it doesn't really have a lot to do with me, but I feel just like a proud parent whenever my seedlings turn into plants and bloom.

I think if people lower their expectations of a round robin and also agree to doctor up the box at each stop then you can have a really nice robin. I have gotten a couple of dog boxes in the past but for the most part have enjoyed all of them. If you're fussy and particular about what goes into your garden then you should avoid the regular robins at all costs. I winter sow and I have a large yard so they work for me. With the exception of those couple of boxes I have always found enough seeds to make the three-four dollars in postage worth it. It's just plain fun to get a box of seeds to pick through, that alone is worth the few dollars to me! I love some of the 'unwanted' seeds. I would never go buy a pack of snapdragons, but lo and behold, there they are for me in that box! I usually try to fix the box up before sending it on. If there are 5 packs of mixed morning glories, I might combine them into one (I don't grow MG's) and put in 4 of my own packets so the number doesn't decrease. Unwanted is a matter of opinion. I think MG's are junk. However, people grow them and love them! If someone put in a huge packet of something really nice, I'll trade out for it and then put half the packet back in because I don't need 50 seeds of something. Everyone grows common stuff in their yards (hence the term common) so it goes without saying they are going to end up in the box. Newbies play and most of their initial seeds come from donations from us! I used to think Shasta Daisy's were the bomb (sorry fellow robineers)! It's not the responsibility of the hostess to keep the box nice the whole trip. It's hard to just fill an initial box to send out. Everyone should help out and also be a bit more tolerant if you get the box from a newbie. If you have extra 'wanted' seeds, what's the harm in tossing them into the box? I have beautiful flowers but it's a round robin garden, lol. I have to avoid the named variety exchanges. Sorry to read you got a dog box fairydancer! A long time ago, I signed up for a robin and was the first to receive it. It turned out to be a gift and seed robin. The gifts were dirty junk laying around the host's house for years. (Same for the seeds in the box)! They don't work for me, people have different tastes. Some of them are expensive to mail around. I think if they were a little more specific and included a price range on the items they might work better. Perhaps a 'homemade trinkets' box with personalized items might be nice rather than shipping dollar store items around the country. If I was a hostess, I wouldn't feel comfortable mailing a box with 10 items valued at $20.00 an item. I've only joined in a couple of group swaps. I was really delighted when I opened one package because it was filled with all sorts of things I'd never heard of. Come to find out, it's because every single packet was for zone 7 and warmer! I would have rather just packed and sent my package of seeds to a newbie and only paid the postage one way. Now, I'm more careful about the swaps I sign up for. It's my responsibility to make sure the hostess will be able to fit my needs, too, so I'm not so disappointed.

Oh My: DJM you are THE most dedicated of them all "Let's just stop at the PO on our way to the hospital...." Only a true Garden Webber would utter such words. I hope all is well. A thrombosis in no laughing matter; note the attention long distance flying is getting recently. You all move your toes and legs, exercise your muscles while sitting on those long flights or you'll be at risk. Djm if the trips to the lab daily are difficult ask your doctor to make a referral to Visiting Nurse, assuming you have that, usually every county has a VNS/ Public Health Nurse service. They will come to you, grab your blood, get it to the lab, and talk with the doctor about dosages. Could be a big time/energy saver for you. Just a thought. Hope you stay well! Poochella

This one is from my own sweet mom, who is mother to 9 of us. To save on bathroom storage space ~ which, let me tell you, was at a premium with 9 kids! ~ she gave us each a simple, inexpensive, plastic tool-type caddy to keep our own personal bathroom necessities (toothbrush, comb, brush, etc. ) in. They were stored on a shelf in our bedroom closets, to be carried in and then back again, as we needed them. This helped a lot to keep our bathrooms uncluttered and organized. Mom also bought one of this type of plastic baskets for each kid to catch of our dirty laundry. She wrote our names on each of them. The plastic made it easy to keep clean and the holes kept our dirty clothes somewhat aerated . . . which really helped with our brothers' stinky things (LOL). The handles made them easy to carry back and forth to our laundry room. Lynn

Hi ladies! I'm checking the web-site from here in New Jersey. And I'm glad that I did. I'm sorry for holding things up. A satellite map? Yikes......what does it show? LOL..... I do actually live on a fairly buzy street. But we are up on a hill , and you can't see onto the porch. I'll try and get my next door neighbor to check for the package and take it in. Actually Monica...you can't see much...the houses are tiny, cars are smaller than ants and any people appear to be a tiny speck of dirt and like I said the pics seem to be at least a year old if not more....if you want to know the truth...where the X marked the spot, you have no house! LOL! Anybody can go take a peek at their house at yahoo! maps....type in your full address and then zoom in all the way, then in the upper right hand corner of the map click on satellite...kind of funny and very weird at the same time. But at least with the pics being really old you can't really be invading anybody's privacy...you can't really see any details.

And thanks Monica for keeping right on top of this even though you are out of town. We all appreciate it!

I took out both of those painting books. (I have taught painting both decorative, and canvas for over 20 yrs.) But, I love having books around for ideas, and patterns. I also took the foam brushes(you can never have too many brushes in MHO, smiles) and I took a couple packages of the bias tape, I use them to make ties on bibs, they work great.

I put back in,
A container of milk paint, the powdered form. Lots of little pre packs of foamie kits (frig magnets) for kids. A couple of little foamie boxes to decorate,2 baggies of different foamies to decorate the boxes or anything else. And, and.....???... I know there was more, but for the life of me, I simply cannot remember what they were...DUH

DH had his surgery, got his defib,is home and doing well. We are all breathing easier now. So looking forward to 2007. Gonna be a much better year than 2006.

I'm back home, and the package was safely on my kitchen counter. Of course my little girl thinks it's for her and wanted to open it even before we unpacked the car. She has already used all of the pomp-pomps, some of the scrap book paper, and the paper ribbon??? We also took a wooden frog to paint. Will get it in the mail tomorrow with some scrap-booking stuff, another yarn, ribbon, kids crafts etc..... I'll be keeping an eye out for the next box. Thanks all!

I received the other box today. So I'll put both in the mail this afternoon. and post Delivery Confirmation tonight. From the second box I took some small beads, the glass flowers, the bag of craft foam flowers, and the 2 craft foam boxes.I'm putting in 2 more foam sets, a cross stitch set, another bag of beads, and another set of the alphabet letter sheets. Have fun!

Hello Netta and craft ladies,
I just received the box o' crafts and goodies this morning! I ripped it open pretty good, so I may have to repackage it in another box...maybe a bigger one, it is jammed full! So far, my son has insisted on two of the craft foamie kits. I found kiddie beads and scrapbooking pages, plus I can take some of the yarn for my art projects. Now, I must scour the house for things to add. I should be able to mail this out tomorrow.

That's ok Netta, I completely understand sleep deprivation! I've been offline since Thursday, this is the first chance I've had to get on the Internet. I mailed the box out this afternoon to Jackie MacDonald. I took some of the lettering pages and some ribbon, and added some crochet yarn and cross stitch kits and books. That box is stuffed tight! Hi all,
Yes, got it yesterday, opened this AM. Too cool. I got several zippers, embroidery floss (grandkids can make bracelets) thread (wood spools)plastic rings, DD took some of the scrapbook paper for the babybook, and she also took the rubberstamp kit.
I kinda got carried away with putting things back, but I didn't want the things, so hope someone can use them. I put back, 6 of those little styrofoam glider kids kits, 4 bunches of mini roses, a set of "dot" tools for painting, package of white marabou feathers, 2 packs of doll hair, 2 metal trees, and 2 metal angels to make ornaments, silk sunflower bush, pkg. orange beads, pkg. rhinestones, ribbon shredder,a cute and unusual wood piece that "works" and a package of 44 different glitter glue.
I am gonna repack it, so nothing gets broken, and will try and get it out tomorrow. Will post then.

Please keep me in mind. I really enjoyed it. Got some really nice and useful things. I really needed a 22" white zipper to finish my little grandsons winter fleece saque. So, imagine how very pleased I was when I opened the box and found one in it. Saved me a 40 min.(each way) trip to the mall to buy one. And my DD was very happy to get the paper and rubberstamps for her babybook project she is working on.

Took some scrapbook paper, package of glitter pens/brushes, fabric roses, buttons, couple of embrodery hoops (different sizes), pkg. of feathers, dot tool, thread, couple of the styrofoam airplane kits.

I added 11 flat clear candymaking (Chocolate melt and pour) trays (just like new), and one 3D rabbit candy mold. All are plastic and lightweight. Each have several molds in each tray. Halloween, Easter, Valentine, candycanes, etc. These are so easy to use, several are Wilton. I just don't have time to make candy anymore. I hope someone can use them! I sealed them in gallon ziplock bags.
I also added small black canvas tote, and a sparkly gold dusted leaf bunch.

That's funny I also said dang I've already been passed over and then the candy molds come out. I do chocolates for the holidays too! :) Just gives me an excuse to go buy new molds. :)

I took out the candt molds (except Mr. Easter Bunny :-))

I put in 5 big pinecones with hangers, 3 foam kids crafts, some scrapbook paper, (I also put back in a couple of iron ons that I took out of the first box because I can't use them after all. Daughter didn't like them :-(, Sorry)
3 spools of floss (red, green and purple)and I think thats it. If I remember something later. I'll post. I knew I should have written everything down! LoL

Thaks for a great RR again Netta! Thanks to Deb and Nancy for putting in some great items before it got to me as well! Deb, when I make candy, I will send you some (just like when Nancy makes candy, she gonna send me some too! LoL)

Don't send me any candy or I'll eat it, LOL! I'm on a diet (just started it). I'm trying to lose 10 lbs, so will not eat anything fattening for a couple months. Then, it wears off gradually, and I just watch what I eat. Too many rich calorie foods around Christmas! And my never ending Birthday, LOL!

Ok...so I was checking the DC#'s that are left in Robin A after a process of elimination. It appears that Lisa mailed the box (0306 1070 0001 2541 8831) and it arrived at Janet's house on Saturday.

Well Netta Box B Will be flying back to you tomorrow morning.I printed my label online so I will post the confirmation # when it goes out.I took out the most adorable bunny mold(wonder how that got in there?) LOL and also some wire ornaments.I added back in alot of never opened jewelry making items, alot of earring wires,beads,and extras I had,also some yarn and embroidery floss, 2 pretty gift bags and some pretty victorian fabric.Hope you can find some use for them Netta.Thanks for the wonderful robin : )

Nancy...GOT IT!!!! Thanks everybody for participating and hope you all got something you could use. Nancy thanks for your special additions, they will all get used, and as for everything else...it has either found a home in my supply closet or will be set aside for the next Craft Supply Robin. THANKS Nancy...and thanks eerybody else.

I will be sending Janet another email...we'll see what happens....this is just a little frustrating since she was the last stop before the Robin comes home. Cross you fingers for me!
