Thank you everyone. Carol, some of my roses looks really bad because of blackspot, I'm seriously considering spraying them this weekend, the big three are GC, Heirloom and Sharifa. Laurie, that columbine was already there when we moved in, I don't know where the previous owners bought it from. I'm glad I kept it, it's so pretty. I've never seen that green lizard before yesterday, my cat drove them up the wall lol. I don't know if lizards are territorial but there seems to be one in every rose bed. Jean, I got that Jlj from Melva, I don't know how old it is, I'll ask her. She's absolutely a beauty. Leslie, thanks! I appreciate looking at bush shots when members posts them too. :)

If you give a sharp tug to old ratty looking foliage it should come right off at the main body down at the crown. If you tug and it is fairly resistant to coming off it means it's not ready to detach from the main plant yet. Leave it alone and try again later. Leaving lots of short broken off leaves down near the crown invites pests to nestle in between the old and new foliage and water to accumulate. Best to clean the old brown leaves out by stripping them away from the crown just as you would snap a stalk of celery from the main body.........Maryl

Thank you so much - this was very informative! Unfortunately, neither says how high above the picture to install the light (and the electrical!). Thought it would be something easy to find, but apparently, I was wrong! :-)

Yes, hang a stained or leaded glass window inside your picture window. If it’s very large you could hang a triptych of framed windows. They make stained glass film that you could apply directly to the glass, or you could apply it to framed glass to create your own stained glass window to hang. Depending on what is outside the window, you could also construct a screen or arbor in front of the house, fairly close to the window, plant it with beautiful plants to grow on it and look at that instead of the biew beyond.
