advice, pls- clean out nest and eggs?

A pair of bluebirds nested for their first time here. Laid 4 eggs. Nearly two weeks later, the female disappeared. (My husband saw a bird fight; no more sitings of Mrs. BB.) The male bluebird is no longer guarding the next (swooping at me, etc.), but does come to get mealworms.

It has now been nearly 3 weeks from the time the last egg was laid. Should I now get rid of the eggs and clean out the bb house? I don't want him to have to search for another house due to my not doing what I should.

I was hoping they would still hatch - very warm here - and that he would raise the babies alone or by finding another helper. Doesn't SEEM to be happening. But I do not want to throw out the eggs only to learn that "one more day and they would have hatched, despite no mom brooding ...
