Doves

We had our first Eurasian Collared Doves here last winter when three of them began hanging around and eating the seed that fell from the feeders to the ground. Reading about them, I found out they were imported to the Bahamas years ago and then migrated to Florida and kept moving north. Well they are in Montana now. I don't mind them and find them attractive. This spring two stayed and are nesting nearby. We also have a pair of Mourning Doves also nesting here. They both often can be found checking out for fallen bird seed. Has this Collared Dove been a problem for anyone? They are quite a bit larger than our native doves.

Oh my goodness, you have 2. Well get ready for 15-16. I think they are considered invasive. I have about 20 here. They do clean up all the seeds on the ground, but I think you need to get rid of them. They really do upset the balance of nature. I didn't realize that until I joined this forum. I have been advised on this forum to (well it evolves BB guns), but you really should get them not to be in your yard.

Actually the sounds you are describing sound more like the Eurasian collard dove. You may want to Google that on a site like 'allaboutbirds'. They have the sound files. This bird is a recent immigrant, via the bahamas, but originially not a new world dove. They have become established in most of the u.s. other than the north eastern states.

These are close matches in terms of Lab values. Which are the values that paint stores and easyrgb uses to find color matches. The problem with Lab values is they don't describe what colors look like. They're great for comparing colors and quantifying differences in Lightness, redness/greeness and blueness/yellowness. What they don't do is tell you how much colors do or do not LOOK alike. So use easyrgb to find color matches and then hue/value/chroma to compare how similar they do or do not look. And then you can decide if one of the similar colors will work or if it'd be better to get a custom match mixed.

Anyone tried White Dove paint @ 50%? White Dove wall trim recco?

If the natural light in the room is north or east, White Dove always looks dingy and dirty. Cutting it 50% will make it look like skim milk…not good. If the light is the culprit do Simply White on trim (I find it rather important to keep all white trim the same). and Simply White on the walls.

will you also be adding/adjusting the lighting? the window coverings will also affect the look... you said you are worried about it looking flat, that shouldn't be an issue, there are so many angles and surfaces for a single color to look flat. ... I am doing a bedroom with a wall of shaker style built ins all the same color SW Alabaster. north light, using a light bamboo shade and light sheer drapery, the lighting only wall mounted. I expect it to be quite creamy on a dark day, brighter on a sunny day.
