CHOPTAG Taste Fest

The 2008 CHOPTAG Taste Fest will be held on Sunday, August the 17th. It will be held at Paxton-Ramsey Park on the East side of Cincinnati, Ohio from 1 until 5pm.

This is the same site as last year and the same site where we held our Plant Swap on May 4th of his year.

Everyone is welcome to join us. This is a family affair, so bring the kids, the parents, the grandparents and anyone else that likes tomatoes.

While it is our intention for everyone to share their tomato harvest, itÂs OK if you donÂt have any tomatoes to bring . You are still welcome. Most folks bring some type of food other than tomatoes to share also, but that is not a requirement either.

Our only real requirement is you have of love of tomatoes and want to share some fun with other tomato lovers. So mark your calendars and plan to join us for a great afternoon.

Hello Jerry, Saw your posting for upcoming Choptag Fest, planning to attend. Do you know of any Heirloom tomato growers in or around the Willamsburg,Oh. ,area? How have your Heirloom Tomatoes been growing this season? Thanks

Welcome Ron,

It will be good to have you at the taste fest.

I don't know of anyone from the Williamsburg area but you never know who will show up at a CHOPTAG event.

My plants are doing OK but seem to be a bit late this year.

Hi All, The annual party will be held Sat. Sept. 5, 2009 on Grand Island, NY. This is a harvest party for all growers of tomatoes. If your harvest is less than spectacular this year, don't worry, as always, it is the gathering of gardeners that is more important! We have fun contests and great prizes, yummy food too. If you need to bring the kiddies along, that is fine. It is a family friendly party. Please send me a message if you would like more info. Thanks for posting the party on your blog Remy! I am going to check it out. Hopefully I will be able to make it next year. My tomatoes this year were a bit on the late side but once they started ripening up they have done wonderful...no blight at all this year. I even have a few reseeders from last years crop that are producing like crazy. Penny

Thanks, Jerry, for sharing the CHOPTAG Taste Fest here. I certainly plan to be there; I can't think of any other group of folks I enjoy being with as much! Great variety of tomato varieties, good food and fellowship with others who really enjoy growing and sharing their tomato interest!

Tomato production here in Kentucky has been slow as well, but I hope to have a few varieties to share.

Just thought I'd add some directions.

If you are coming from the North, Down I-75 or I-71 youÂll want to take I275 East to exit 54 (Wards Corner Rd). Using the CENTER lane turn LEFT off the exit. This will put you in the right hand lane on Wards Corner Rd. Turn RIGHT at the 1st street, Loveland-Miamiville Rd. Go about 7/10 of a mile and turn RIGHT on Price Rd. The park is at the top of the hill, about Â½ mile, on the right.

If youÂre coming from the South up I-71/75 take I-275 North to exit 54 (Wards Corner Rd). Turn Right off the exit. Stay in the right hand lane. Turn RIGHT at the 1st street, Loveland-Miamiville Rd. Go about 7/10 of a mile and turn RIGHT on Price Rd. The park is at the top of the hill, about Â½ mile, on the right.

For those coming from Indiana on I74 use I-275 through Kentucky continuing to exit 54 (Wards Corner Rd). Turn Right off the exit. Stay in the right hand lane. Turn RIGHT at the 1st street, Loveland-Miamiville Rd. Go about 7/10 of a mile and turn RIGHT on Price Rd. The park is at the top of the hill, about Â½ mile, on the right.

Hello MULE, Didn't see you at the "Taste Fest", yesterday, we had a great time. Loads of tomatoes ,but couldn't find any "UFO,S" or "Crazy Redhead", varieties. Is this a new type of tomato that has been recently developed? Let us know. Newby Ron
