Every time this question comes up Big Zac seems to get the nod for biggest from many.

Our personal biggest this year is Granny Cantrell - ugly but all have been 1 to 1/2 lbs. biggest was 1 lb. 10 oz. Last year's biggest was Giant Belgium at 1 lb 8oz.

This year it is an F2 between Kosovo and Pruden's Purple - 1179g

This year my biggest are Rhoades Heirloom and Lithuanian. I weighed the largest RH and it was 1 lb. 11 oz. (I only weighed the one tomato because I had to use the scale at the Post Office as I don't have one at home LOL)

My biggest have been from "Mortgage Lifter" and "Supersteak". My largest Mortgage Lifter was about 1 1/2lbs. The plant only got a few hours of sun every day, though. So with better conditions, I'm sure you could get a 2lb+ tomato.

Thanks, I figured there had been previous threads on this topic, but the search terms seemed too general to be effective.

I grew out the Giant Belgium seed from TGS this year with high hopes, but the fruits are puny - 4 to 6 ounces, I'd guess. They are also the blandest thing I've ever grown.

So Big Zac and Neves Azorean Red are on my list.

How is the flavor on Big Zac?

Porterhouse has fruit almost identical to Big Zac's, but, in my experience, Porterhouse plants and seed grow much less vigorously.

The biggest in my garden is Box Car Willie. It's suppose to be a
medium tomato, but mine are huge. The only thing I did not like
about them is the deep cracking on top. Flavor is very good.

I had great luck with Kellogg's Breakfast last year. I'm pretty sure one of them broke 2 pounds but I'm not positive. This year I'm having good luck with KBX and Large Pink. I've had a couple of KBX that might have broken 2 pounds if the squirrels or raccoons hadn't gotten to them. I had one large pink that was 1 pound 11 oz. I definitely prefer the taste of the KBX to the Large Pinks although the LPs are not bad at all.

This year the largest in the patch are hanging on a Purple Haze F3 RL pink.

Daniels and Big Cheef have had some go over a pound this year also.

Didn't really plant anything with the intention of growing whoppers this year.

My Cherokee Purples are producing quite a few large fruits, and Big Beef is second. Most prolific producer this year has been Box Car Willie.

Another vote for NAR. My biggest NAR was 1.5 lb and the plant plunks out 1+ pounders on almost a daily basis. They taste good too. Definitely a winner!

I don't prune or do anything special to get huge tomatoes but I do enjoy growing big varieties. My biggest is a Big Zac from 2003. It weighed in at 3' 3 ounces. My son is holding it below. I think Porterhouse gives Big Zac a run for the money though as I routinely get 2 pounders from Porterhouse. I've grown many of the "giants" like Delicious and NAR but never got a 2 pounder out of any besides BZ and PH.

It hasn't ripened yet...but there are some BIG BOYS on my Todd County Amish...I have picked and weighed some of my Cherokee Purples, and they were coming in at just about a pound each...but the Todd Country are a good bit bigger.

Old German. A 1 pound 6 ounce was the biggest, but about 1/2 dozen were 1 pound or more. This plant was an unexpected and pleasant suprise for me. My searches yeilded almost no feedback about it other than non productive. That wasn't my experience. It is also a meaty tomato which makes it great in salsa's, on a pizza, etc. The taste is very good, though no up in the elite tasting group. The color is yellow on top and deep orangy red below externally and a mix of yellow and red inside.

Actually found two Todd County blushing when I got home...both were 2+ pounds

Gotta wait to see how they taste.

I grew a 2 1/2 pound NAR this year and will post pics. as soon as I figure out how to from my phone. It looked (past tense because I already ate it)awesome and from the top view it was absolutely stunning. Anyway, I"m putting my wife on picture posting duty she is a lot more savvy than I am.

I don't get tomatoes that size, but Cherokee Purple can get really large... I had one last month that was too large to eat at one meal, and I really like fresh tomatoes! I didn't think to weigh it, but it HAD to be 1 pound.

Here are (clockwise) Mexico, Omar's Lebanese, Cherokee Green, and a red version of Gregori's Altai. The Cherokee Green was 2 lbs 3.1 oz.

Consistently large ones are Omar's, Cuostralee, Mexico, Kornesevvsije, Lithuainian, Daniels, Tidwell German, Dutchman, Italian Sweet, Olena Ukrainian, Phil's Fantastic, and, for hearts, Oleyar's German, Wes, Nicky Crain, Ukrainian Heart & Kosovo. Large bi-colors are Burracker's Favorite & King Pineapple. I even get some XL-XXL GMG's:

I get many 2+ pounders off of my Rostova. It's the only Tomato I plant annually. Next year I will only plant 3 varieties Rostova,Neves Azorean Red(which is my favorite) and Stump of the World

Last year I grew Omars, Prudens, Mortgage Lifter, NAR, CP,Cuostralee, AGG, and KB. I got a single 2 lb fruit off of several of them, but the biggest was Great White. I got several 2 lb fruit off of each of two plants. The average size fruit was much larger than the others.
