Thanks all for your kind comments. My husband is a great cook (better than I am!) and also shops, does laundry, dishes, etc. In fact, he's heating up some supper, while I sip wine and surf the 'net. We ended up eating in the sunroom and had a wonderful time. Then we (the girls!) headed out for some shopping. I lost my mother 7 years ago, but always miss her--every day--but especially on Mother's Day. I brought fresh flowers to the cemetary this morning. Sending good wishes to all of us moms!

It sounds delicious to me, I tend to like breakfast for supper. Or lunch. Or breakfast. (grin) Actually, it doesn't sound very breakfast-y anyway, other than the fact that it has eggs and bacon. The French toast casseroles seem more to me like bread pudding/dessert than French toast, usually. You could also use tiny cream puffs or gougere in place of bread, although the salmon sounds good as it is. If you want to add another choice a salad with some citrus or fruit in it might be nice too. Cathy/Mustangs' salad with dates and prosciutto is awesome, although I use fresh baby spinach instead of arugula and I usually don't have shallot so I use green onions and/or garlic, depending on my mood, or sometimes none of the above. It's always good. Arugula Salad with Figs, Prosciutto, Walnuts, and Parmesan 4 tbls olive oil 2 oz thinly sliced prosciutto cut into strips 1 tbls raspberry jam 3 tbls fig balsamic vinegar 1/3 cup dried figs, chopped into pieces 1 tbls finely chopped shallot 5 cups baby arugula 1/2 cup chopped walnuts, toasted 2 oz Parmesan, shaved into thin strips 1. Heat 1 tablespoon oil in 10 inch nonstick skillet over medium heat; add prosciutto and fry until crisp, stirring frequently for about 7 minutes. Using slotted spoon, transfer to paper towel to drain and cool. 2. Whisk jam and vinegar in medium microwave-safe bowl; stir in figs. Cover with plastic wrap, cut several steam vents in plastic and microwave on high until figs are plump, about 45 seconds. Whisk in 3 tablespoons oil, shallots, 1/2 tsp salt; toss to combine. Let cool to room temperature. 3. Toss arugula and vinaigrette in large bowl; adjust seasonings with salt. Divide salad among individual plats; top with portion of prosciutto, walnuts, and Parmesan. Last year I did a ton of research on food processors - I had decided to buy one after only having a mini attachment for my blender. I never used it that much - an occassional batch of pesto or hummus - but I see a lot of recipes that call for it, my mom was saying it's the way to go for pie crust, etc., so I decided I must have a FP. I read a ton of reviews on Amazon and other sites (ePinions), etc. - it seems that the Cuisinart company was sold a few years back and the new products from them have slid very badly in design and quality (this is from reviewers who had older Cuisinarts). Some models of the KA got good reviews, but there was always that "but". I remember liking one, and almost buying it, but then reading that you couldn't fill it with liquid because the way it was designed it would leak out. There always seemed to be some design flaw revealed. Then, there is the size question - how big is big enough, but not too big? None of the manufacturers have common sizes. Arg! I don't know about you, but I figured if I was going to spend $100-150 for this appliance, it better be near perfect. I ended up buying a Black and Decker PowerPro II for like $40 at Target. It's great! I love it, it's done everything I want it to do, it cleans up easily, I think it's an 10 cup capacity. And, the best part is that - if it does die in a few years, I won't care - it will have given me every penny I paid for it. Here is a link that might be useful: B&D Power Pro II

Wow, you've had almost exactly the experience we did with Samsung and we also switched to the same Electrolux. We had three replacement Samsungs (same model as yours) as various problems could not be either properly diagnosed or fixed over a three year period (all under warranty). The last one had the top explode and at that point we took Samsung to court. They paid and we bought the Electrolux which has been great. Only relatively minor complaints about the Electrolux which by the way has been totally reliable. I'd prefer to be able to directly choose a heat setting rather than turning on to medium and then going up or down. I love the large burner at right front but the right rear is too small to use on anything but a six inch pan when a 12" pan is on the front. Overall we are very happy with the Electrolux. We're going to replace it but only because during a kitchen remodel we opted for a 36" range and nobody makes a 36" so will move to gas. Overall though I'd give 5 stars to our Electrolux experience and about 2 stars to Samsung.
