OT: Robins

Just a quick question or 2. Will Robins use the same nest twice? We had a few fledge a few weeks ago, now theres a robin in the old nest with 3 eggs in it. Anyway....4 Baby Blues ready to fledge in the next few days. Today is day 14. Got to see the last babies fledge...What a sight...One was trying to balance on the fence, another landed on the shed and was sliding down the roof flapping away to get back up.

I believe Robins might use the same nest twice, but every Robin's nest I have ever seen has either fallen out of the tree or knocked down by a predator. They don't always choose the safest locations. One robin built a nest on a beam supporting my neighbor's deck; drove her cats crazy. So funny to watch the cats peeking through the cracks watching the robins (but they could not reach through, thank heavens, they are indoor cats). One morning though, the nest was found empty on the ground, hopefully the young fledged before that.

Well, they in a fairly safe location. She built the nest on the S part of our rain gutter, where it comes down from the roof then goes in to run down the side of the house. Wasn't sure if it was a different robin or the same...Yeah, they build nests in some pretty scary locations...

First I do apologize to anyone that did not get a little gift from me. Not sure where they went but.. Remember the missing box? Well the person who kept that has now contacted me. This person has done many things that were not kosher and some of the people really went into overdrive and tracked her down through her work so now I received the message listed below: "Please let me know how to rectify this with you. I am not trying to make excuses, but can only offer a sincere apology for any problems. Hi Cheryl, I used to live in Georgetown, Texas where they had those white Irises you speak of in the older parts of town. They are Iris florentina, a historical species Iris, originally- and currently- grown for perfumery (they are fragrant) as well as to make orris root and homeopathic remedies. I love those! That doesn't sound very safe to me - no leafy cover, and on a slippery surface. But hey, it's not up to me! Silly robins.
