As mentioned earlier, I got quite a few starts from the parent tree, including some with a bit of the pale yellow underground stem which is more like root tissue. These ones should take off very well. Again, the tree is medium sized and has a tan brown fig with faint striping. It is not at all common in this area.

Tweetypye, The closest match I found was 'Popsie' by Hutchison'91. The photo's color at Blyth's site was more purple but I ignored that as most iris pics from Australia I've seen have greater intensity as well as a slight difference in colour. Styles good match, contrast between standards and falls present, definate veining in the standards present.

If you like it and have the room go for it ..you won't know for several years whether it's original "calling" will be your ultimate "calling"...with named cultivars you basically are getting a specific color size type of tree with some variations depending on soil, enviormental and variance from repeated grafting and lineage of the growers particular cultivar,. It's obviously a little differnt than dogs since the tree's disposition is not evident ( in the real world ;>) ) and a young mix breed dog will basically look like that as it ages ..not necessarily true with JM seedlings. You can always keep the JM in a pot and see what happens and give it away if ya don't like how it turns out ...that way you arn't taking valuable space that might be better used for something you know you will like ..David
