European Hornets in Nest

laylaa

Yesterday I had a European Hornet crawl into a Carolina wren nest. The babies are less than two days old and tiny, Mom wasn't there but I doubt there is a lot she could do against one of those monsters. Anyone have any experience and know if a European hornet will kill babies? I don't see why not - they hunt live food and are twice as big as a baby wren. I did chase it out of the nest, but dang I can't stand those bugs and would hate to see the babies killed like that.

Please, no one tell me about the benefits of this imported hornet species - I've been stung by one. I'm qualified not to like them. :)
