Southeastern storms

Today was a sad day for us bird lovers here in the SE. So so many trees down. Much tornadic and severe storm activity. I saw an old, majestic tree down in the road and was walking around it when I heard the chip chip of cardinals. There was a pair frantically hopping around and vocalizing on the branches but I saw no nest. I suspect many babies were lost today.

On the bright side, during a heavy downpour and in between two hailstorms here comes my beautiful male ruby throat! The feeder was swinging wildly and he had to struggle to feed, but he persisted!
