Hi Eddie! The lady on the property behind mine (aprox 1 mile away)says she saw one last week. I have my oranges and jelly out but have not seen them yet. Last year they arrived on May 6th. The lady is elderly and has poor vision but I don't know what else would look like one to her.I expect my Hummers some time this weekend.

Thank you, everyone. I have seen Heracleum maximum many times in this county, but I haven't seen H. mantegazzianum. I do hope it's not that. Thank you, Carol23. I'm sure you are right about the second plant.

I see that Chamaecrista fasciculata grows in this county so I bet you are right. Most excellent! I've never seen it before, either. Now i have to go back and get better pictures. Thank you.

Maybe! Beats me. I'm willing to call it an adult mite of the color red. Any further attempts at identification from me would require a slide mount, a text book, and a glass of gin. Mites lack the charm of bugs. Acarologists are trying to atone for a past life or something. :)
