Bright red birds (?)

As I suspected with this weather and the migration, I am seeing birds I've never seen before. These are not house finches unless they have sunburn. House finches I have seen. These have lots more red. The females are all gray. At least, I'm assuming it's the female. The gray bird landed on a tree and soon after the red bird came. I noticed these last night, they are staying in a small pine tree right by my porch. I can't get a good shot of them so I hope these are sufficient enough. I don't think they are Purple Finches either because the female doesn't match it.

I hope they're nesting in that tree and not just passing through. I've noticed the House Sparrows are already building.

This is the gray bird that I'm assuming is the female. He/she had no color,not even the eyes, beak or legs. It also could be a different bird but it was "with" the red bird it seemed like.

Notice in the first two pictures how defined the males' breast is. Also, the gray bird in the first pic and the gray bird in the last pic, I don't believe are the same kind of bird.

I just found out how to protect the feeders from the squirrels. I got a new double shepards crook from Tractor Supply and have only had time to put one feeder on it. I can see it from here and the squirrels are having fits. They are hanging on to the small redbud and trying to grab on to the crook and it just keeps sliding out of their paws. Its hilarious! I know exactly what you are talking about as they are getting heavy usage here as well in professionally landscaped entrances to subdivisions and office parks. They are beautiful and absolutely covered with berries. They are not crabapples. The berries are not in clusters but are fairly evenly distributed along the branches. I"ve not ever stopped to get a leaf, but I've often though they would be either deciduous holly or a hawthorn.

Some mini red peppers are bright red and some dark. Dark ones odd

I think I figured it out actually. These peppers turn veyr dark brown before they lighten up to a vibrant red. I don't know if that's typical of peppers, but now that more are ripening I can see that they do end up just fine if I leave them.

In the first two pictures, you can see brown streaking on the sides just below the red breast feathers. This indicates House Finches. The brown streaking is lacking in male Purple and Cassin's Finches.
