And Yet Another Hawk ID

Is there any other bird's ID questioned as much as the smaller hawks? (rhetorical question)

In the maple tree this afternoon, they perched together for maybe 45 seconds. I'm guessing mature breeding Cooper's Hawk, but the pros here usually set me straight. The juvenile plumage throws me off.

Up top you have a pair of gorgeous adult Red-shouldered Hawks (a species of Buteo, aka soaring hawks).

On the bottom you have a juvenile (first year) Cooper's Hawk (a species of Accipiter).

Notice the Red-shouldered Hawks' fancy black/white checkered upperwing pattern, and black/white banded short, fat tail.

The Cooper's Hawk is showing a good view of its long, narrow tail.

Bittercress; Cardamine species. Very common. Here in the northwest, they're able to germinate year-round. Pull it now before it sets seeds and throws them 6 or more feet away.

Nothing wrong with your preference...And it is a good idea to keep new ones in quarantine to make sue they have no diseases & pests. Also agree with flowers making demands on plants, to some extent. I keep all succulents outdoors as soon as possible, and almost all in full sun. There are many (probably 300 pots), almost all side-by-side on benches, shelves. Maybe beneficials help, but don't remember flower stalks attracting bugs :)
