My gander is acting up too. Fortunately his aggression is directed toward us and not his two geese. I agree with mountainman that your ratio is a big part of the problem. I suggest culling your extra gander NOW or penning him separately until you get some more geese. Some breeds are nicer than others. Both Pilgrims and American Buffs have good reputations for calmness and friendliness.

An interesting observation. Though an occasional visitor only, one of the reasons I return to this forum (and other Gardenweb forums) is the general upscale level of maturity on it, likely combined with intelligent moderation. There are the usual veteran members who post good advice and try to help folks out. I used to frequent many, many forums only to watch then descend into complete (insert negative connotation here) matches, and then gave up completely because of what a pointless exercise it had become. I think that (besides the state of the world in general), the whole computer demographic has changed somewhat with the computer becoming much more of an "appliance". Therefore expectations are somewhat changed from what they used to be. (I can make that statement based on what I'm seeing as a service tech on the job.) Fortunately I work with some very qualified people who are much more likely to explain why they will or will not agree with you, rather than get into a yelling match. Hopefully this concept will prevail here and the trend you mention is only a minor aberration.

Thanks for the input everyone.I'm not just yet ready to give up on the situation though last night in the middle of the night a new situation arose.She sleeps in the laundry room which is outside the kitchen with a door to the outside.All of our property is fenced in.Mosquitos are bad now so the door to the outside has to be closed all the way at night now.It was not locked so she jumped against it and made it open,the first time I let her back in but the second time I went back to sleep and she must have wanted back in and could not get in so she jumped the fence and went to the front and jumped the gate and I heard her come on the porch.I put her back in the laundry room and she did it once more before it occurred to me to lock the door.Anyway this morning she has already jumped the fence once and I have her back in the laundry room now.My fencing is a farm fence 4ft tall,she has no problems clearing it.She has long legs and can jump high I've noticed from playing.So theres that problem to fix to.I'm not comfortable with her getting out as since she has been behind fencing she acts different than when she run loose.She charges the fence when anyone walks by or even rides by. To answer the questions above,the two dogs did make contact and there was raised hackles and growling.She wanted to play with the basset and the basset did not want to play and had already given her a backoff growl.She sweet pea(stray)layed down by my husband and Lucy approached him to,I don't know for sure which one snapped first but the confrontation started.My husband grabbed Sweet pea and I got Lucy and removed her from the situation as in putting her back inside the house.The bassets are inside dogs and Sweet pea stays outside and comes and goes in the daytime into the laundry room as she pleases.If they ever get along I have no plans of ever leaving all three together unsupervised.

Roselvr you gave the OP some good ideas on how to compare realtors, but then I read your comment about the agent you are thinking of using because she sells "60%" of her listings. That is not a statistic that the agent should be bragging about. What happens to the other 40%? Just for kicks I went back for the last three years and figured out what percentage of my listings sell. (Not a question I have ever been asked). Since I am consistently in the top 10% of top producers in my county,it gave me a good feel for where your realtor would fall. I sell 84% of my listings. I would reconsider listing with an agent who only sells 60% of her listings. This means 40% of the time, she's either not pricing them correctly, not marketing them correctly,or not keeping up with the market. There is a small percentage of people that list with an agent and then basically don't let the agent do their job so you have to take that into consideration, but that is no where near 40%.
