Well, I'm going to have to read up on Orioles, and Phoebes too. Wow Lindac, a buzzard! Marlingardener, I'm happy to give your ducks a home during the summer months. It's good to share, you know! No hummers here yet, but they should remember me, so I'm hoping they show up soon. I'm very faithful to put out fresh food for them, even though I haven't planted their garden. I'm just barely moving myself after the winter we've had, and feel a little behind the times. Blueiris, I named ours Henry and Henrietta long ago. They're very comfortable dropping in (literally) and leaving again. It's always a pleasure. Oh wow. I just saw one of the little owls on the owl cam devour a small bunny, the entire hind quarters in three gulps. YIKES.

I think most of us really enjoy our machines, when I was just 'looking' for my serger, I was talking to a lady at the fabric - sewing center, she told me a funny story." She said a lady really wanted another machine, I think she had three or four already, she told her husband what she wanted, he said she did not need other sewing machine, she really only needed one, will he was a wood crafter and had several saws and things he used for his wood crafting, so when he went to work, she hired someone to come in and move all but one of his saws out, that afternoon when he came in, they ate supper, then he said he was going to his workshop,when he did, he RAN back in, told her to call the law, because someone had taken all his stuff but one of his saws, she said " Oh No Dear, you only need One." He then told her to go get the sewing machine she wanted and he would never tell her that again. bopeep

My second-season Bobo were okay. They did fill out nicely and have a good amount of flowers, but they were just "eh" for me -- it's not really the fault of the plant, it's more that I would have preferred a shot of color in the area I planted them, there's a bit too much white. I'm going to plant some hot pink zinnias behind them this year to jazz things up a bit. Also, I think the taller cultivars are just more graceful. I feel this way about a lot of plants that have huge blooms on short plants - just looks out of sorts to me. In contrast, I have a "Limelight" peegee tree form and it is spectacular! The abundance of huge blooms look "right" with a tall plant.

Grabbed the camera and it needs new batteries. (I don't like how often my Canon Power Shot sx150 needs new batteries.) Finally! A mama turkey and 10 chicks about the size of morning doves. They stayed in one spot for quite some time then started to stroll along. Mama found something in the tall weeds that must have been yummy. Several chicks ran over. We also had two male cardinals this morning. A very unusual sight for us but my husband was looking out the window at the right time. I usually hear the whip-poor-will around 4:15am. Not this morning though when my husband was also awake too early and would have liked to have heard it. There's a hummingbird around but I have just planted Scarlet Runner beans on a trellis next to our favorite viewing window. I wonder how much food is out there for him.
