Could it be...?

Can anyone shed some light on this?

We had 5 baby bluebirds hatch on Monday. Thursday morning we found what I believe to be daddy bluebird dead. I did not see anything of a male at the box all day Thursday and only mama came when I put out mealworms and whistled for them. Friday there was a male at the house 3 or 4 times. He even ate from the mealworms and fed the babies. Friday before dusk, I observed him at a different house calling for a mate. This is Saturday and he was back at the house with the babies this morning.

My question is, could this be one of mama's offspring from last year, a sibling of the mama, or could she have found a new mate this quickly? I don't think he would be scouting out a house if he was her new mate though.

Whatever the case is, I am glad that he is around to help! Poor mama has her hands full!
