Well, that sure is an unusual looking Swallowtail Linda. I see those big white patches on the inside hind wing that have you confused. They are confusing. I looked at BAMONA, and they list 20 SWT species in Texas. One of them, the VARIABLE Swallowtail does have those big white patches, but it seems to be documented only in the southernmost part of Texas. Sherry is most probably correct in her evaluation of the species here, but I was wondering if perhaps there is ever any inbreeding between Swallowtail species there. That sure is a LOT of white. kinetikx, Where you say you have many other hollys in your yard it just might be a mutant cross that sprouted up. I'm not saying it is... just throwing that idea out to you. If you can't get an id on it then let some seeds mature, plant a few and see if any sprouts resemble the parent hollys growing in your yard. Lou

So far, after a very thorough online search, I've found one place that has 3 of the 4 things I want, but hosta-forum-folk have not found that place to be the best, sending small plants. There are several places I can order the Blue Jay and Cameo, but they want like $10 shipping just for the 2 plants, which sort of sticks in my gullet at the thought. If I was ordering more plants for that $10 shipping, I wouldn't give it a second thought. Very few people are carrying Heuchies Ginger Snap & Sweet Tart. Any other sources you can suggest? Thanks!

Thank you! With your help and the help of whatsthatbug.com I was able to narrow it down further to a Clavate Tortoise Beetle. Now to figure out how to deal with them... Here is a link that might be useful: Clavate Tortoise Beetle
