hi daniel.. welcome to GW ... novice gardener??? first.. why is it in that small pot ... and why indoors .... that is two strikes against you real fast... these things thrive in full blistering sun .... and mine.. the seeds of which which dropped from the plants last fall.. started blooming yesterday .. i just happened to notice ... and they are about 10 times larger than yours .... and the 3 inches of rain in the last few weeks sure didnt hurt .... yours looks slightly anemic... yellowish.. but that might be a camera trick .... if i were you.. i would move it outdoors.. the north side of the house... insure it NEVER dries out.. and watch it take off with more vigor.. as long as you dont forget to water it in that smallish pot ... dont know where you are ....[ could you go to your members page.. and change that NONE next to your name.. to the largest big city .. so we have a clue where you are]... anyway .... annuals are sold in spring.. you will be hard pressed to find good stock this time of year ... and its way to late.. to be sowing seeds... plants need to be well established by july/august ... to make it thru the heat of that time of year ... selfsown seedings annuals that i have in my MI backyard include: CA poppies rose campion johnny jump ups larkspur morning glory celosia columbine and i will see if i can come up with some other names ... now.. i gave you common names.. your assignment.. is to google the latin names.. and learn all about them .... you might even get some peeps to send you seeds for the cost of a stamp or two .... in the mean time.. you should build a nice garden bed.. for next spring .... so you can do all this out in mother earth.. where it should be done.. its so much easier.. it took me 20 years of practice in the garden.. before i perfected growing things in pots... so you are starting the hard way ... good luck ken ps: there is a winter sowing forum... for the real hard core.. its a way to get into perennials on the cheap ....

Mine adore and really prefer fennel. I have never had a problem with buying parsley or fennel for the cats. Nuseries shouldnt be spraying them, beacause, presumably they are for human consumption. They only thing I have a problem with is fresh bought milkweed. If I dont spary it down with a bleach solution at first, I often seem to go a sudden onset of melt. I dispise melt. I think the big growers intentionally lace the plants with whatever causes melt. I have a favorite nursery here in Jax that I always go to, because they have the same views I do--caterpillars never truly harm a plant, and butterflies must be preserved. Talk to the people that work there, and if you happen to find host plants loaded with cats, and you dont get strange looks for buying the plants just because " they're infested", then you've found you place to shop from.=D

OMG opqdan. I suggest that the next time you ask a question you also include a list of acceptable and not acceptable answers. I assumed wrongly that you were open to any and all answers. I suggest you stop thinking and try loving. everything you wrote came from your thinking. it has nothing to do with the love inside of me. all the judgements you make about me are always judgements about yourself. All that you wrote was a way for you to see what you need to spiritually heal inside of yourself. remember rule #1. It is always always impossible for any person to ever judge another person. we are always judging ourself. besides we are all ONE. so when you look at me, you are really seeing yourself. You're not missing anything. It does seem strange to experience composters, but given how often this question is asked (both here and in compost workshops that I do), it appears to be a fairly common issue. What people seem to be concerned about is not that it won't continue to decompose, but whether it would somehow be harmful to the compost pile or plants. Usually they worry about mold, due a vague concern that plants might be harmed by fungal diseases. Once you explain that there are fungi everywhere and that most are not harmful, and how the compost pile is the great equalizer and will balance out odors, microbes, fungi and all into a healthy compost product, people are OK with it. Most beginners do not really understand the microbial process that makes compost, or its similarities with and differences from other microbial processes occurring in the refrigerator, digestive tract, sewage plant, etc. etc.
