I'm growing BK for the first time this year. Just got my first couple fruits the other day. It is a superb tomato in my opinion. You are in for one good lunch tomorrow!

Also in Illinois and my first Krims and Purple Cherokees just started to turn.

I got a couple Jaune Flammes & a few Red Grapes today (first real "harvest")

Oh so jealous. When did the IL folks with turning fruit plant? I planted first weekend of May, and I've just got cherry tomatoes turning.

Nice! I started seeds early, and planted out the week before Memorial day. All I have so far are greenies. I did have a dream the other night that I had one starting to break! :-)

I put tomatoes in May 4. Put down black landscape fabric before planting tomatoes and peppers, after about 3 weeks when the weeds were starting to push up the landscape fabric I put down a healthy mulching of straw. Watered with Miracle-Gro a couple of times and that's about it. Plants are loaded with fruit and only one other Black Krim is showing signs of blushing.

I was late with my seedlings. I panicked I missed the date and went and brought some small plants (including Krims & Cherokee Purples).

The plants I purchased are starting to turn. It looks like I have a Gold Medal Yellow plant that has a couple of fruits that are about to turn, but most of my seedlings are at least a couple weeks away (I started the seedlings the first week of April). The Black Plums, Robesons & Ceylons have the most fruit of the seedlings.

Hi Illinois neighbors! I planted waaaay late this year, Memorial Day weekend! My garden soil was just saturated with water from all abundant the spring rains and it was cold. So I waited. I started my own seeds mid-April and they are all 4 to6ft tall. Fruit still green.
Purchased 4 six inch Celebritys which were planted third week of May. They have orange fruit.
Good news, I had the start of early blight,sep wilt. Don't know.Prunded bottom leaves of all infected plants. That was two weeks ago. I spread cornmeal around base and watered that in with a milk/water spray. Apparently that did the trick. No turning leaves now. Plants healthy as they can be in IL clay.
Here's a chuckle. Mid July and weather forcast for next several day,low to mid 70's, for highs! and down in 50's at night!. Gee wiz, crazy weather this year. Mid IL has really not no summer. Should be hot and humid.

The weather here has been nuts. We haven't really had a solid week of good warm weather. Almost had to put long sleeves and regular pants on today.

I had an older fella come into the store today with a jacket on. I never thought I'd say it but I wish it would warm up some. The maters and green beans need some heat.

This weekend, I almost had to switch back to jeans! I did have to wear a cardigan while out and about. And this was in reasonably balmy Naperville!

My first big tomato was Ananas Noir (a.k.a. Black Pineapple). It even beat the Early Girl by a day or two. That one I picked in mid June. I'm still waiting for the next one off it though, so it might have been a freak accident or something. Still, it's also been the best tasting tomato of them all so far, and it will definately be in my garden next year too.

Paul Robeson is a close second on flavor, but that one I just picked today.
