Hi Lisa, I'm back!! And as this am the bluebirds are back checking the boxes in my backyard! (Annapolis, Md area) HOOORAYYY!

Well I'm certainly not Lisa, haha, Tim actually, but I have the same thing going on! Mr. Blue is trying to entice his mate to go in his chosen box. He's gone in several times. Hoping to see nest building soon...I have both TRES and Blues and my boxes are vacant.

I want to wish you good luck and a successful nesting season!

HOWDY ALLAN! Weird start to the season with the weather and the Blues taking their own sweet time but rather this than freezing babies! They still have plenty of time to start building and be on the usual last week in April egg laying. I have 7 years of calendar notes so I'm not sweatin it yet! LOL They usually start building before now but then fart around a while before they get down to laying. I expect the TREES back sometime next week...Hummers the week after. I'm ready! : ) How are you doing?

I'm not sure why it doesn't work. It used to, but as treehaus says, anything originating from GW would usually end up in the spam filter, so occasionally I'd miss one, especially if I didn't recognize the name or subject. Now it doesn't seem to be working at all. I checked my member page and the email address I entered is still there, but I tried to send myself a message and it didn't come through. We've just started constructing a website and I've added the URL to my page. No broms on there yet, and not much else either, but there is a "contact us" page, so you can use that too. Use the "submit message" form rather than the email address that's listed there. That one goes to a separate account that I don't use as much.

Hi Tony, You missed David's lecture but he also second Lisa's opinion that condo mangos are the only way to go! I know Lisa highly recommends Pine Island Nursery and they have a fruit viewer where you can see all the different mangos. I just got a nah wah doc (or something!) and a mallika. The Mallika is supposed to ripen for 10 days in camel dung. As soon as I get fruit I'll be looking for some of that! I'm also hoping to add a Carrie. I'd also be interested in hearing Lisa's fav's! Thanks! It was touch and go for a bit with these guys. We had that horrible freezing weather starting when they were 8 days old, lasted 3&1/2 days. I was only able to check on them for 2 days before the no peek time came. They were all alive at that time but I suspected a little weak. This batch was not very active so I just had to trust the number of trips to feed and the sound of the peeps. I knew I had at least 3 alive. Most of the time they will fight and push to look out. I have seen as many as 4 at a time trying to sneak a peek but these guys never did. I only saw one at a time. I had expected to find 2 dead babies after the 3rd one fledged as I didn't see anymore peeking, then just as I was about to go open the box, Mom came with worms and there was still peeping! So far I have been through 15,000 meal worms and 1,200 wax worms. I had Dees, Titmice, Nuthatches and a Red Bellied Woodpecker that were all trying to feed their babies through the bad weather. I am hopeful that they all make it (I'm out of worms). If all 5 blues made it the others should be along soon. Good Luck on your next nesting!

Thank you both for the welcome. Doing fine & getting ready for the Striped Bass fishing season here on the Chesapeake. Painted & put up a 3 rd house last night & had Mom & Pop on it at 9 am. Hope my luck holds!! Will try to keep you all up to date. Having trouble logging in today. I'm from the slide rule & abbacus generation LOL, I think!!

I have 4 boxes up and another on on hand "just in-case" LOL I have had Dees TRES and Blues all at once. Was watching Mom Blue start bringing in pine straw this morning and woosh!!!!!The Swallows are here! : )

I have three boxes up, and a spare "just in case" box too. My Blues have chosen the one inside the dog fence for their first nesting. As of today, there are four beautiful blue eggs in there. Last year they chose the one out back for nesting number one, though they picked the one in the dog fence for nesting number two. Everyone seems to be saying they have lots of TRES this year, but I am not seeing my pair that nested here the last two years. Hopefully they're still coming.
