oh gosh....I live here in Brevard County...Kennedy Space Center is great if you've not been there. The MI refuge is good, too, and there is another area with lots and lots of ducks, -well, waterbirds-, usually several gator...you just never know. It's the Viera Wetlands at Wickham and 95. And then there is Rockledge Gardens (a retail nursery) on US 1 in Rockledge...our Brevard Zoo is one of the nicest I've ever visited...lots of beautiful plants and great walkways thru the woods....email me for more info on the area if you'd like...I'll give you my phone number in email. DiTTO on Rock City Gardens!! Though it's really closer to Vero Beach it's truly worth the extra drive for how beautiful it is. My favorite garden center in Melbourne is South Brevard on 192--I used to go there every week pretty much and the people there are GREAT! Believe it or not...the Brevard Zoo also has quite a nice garden throughout...they also offer on-site kayaking through their African Wildlife area (no gators or hippos in the water...don't worry). In my opinion, a must-go for the area. Valkaria Tropical Gardens is also worth a visit! It's only open a few weekends every year, but it's very inspiring and chock-full of plants (literally). Dr. Frank has bromeliads stuffed into everything and he has mature palms of all kinds; namely Teddy Bear, Bismark...and awesome clumpbs of exotic bamboos too!

The short answer is yes. The wetlands and the zoo should attract hummingbirds to your general location; now it's up to you to bring them to your yard. There are many hummingbird plants for your area. If you have a fence or a trellis the best would be the coral honeysuckle, in my opinion. It's in bloom now, but there are many others that will be blooming in the summer. Another sure fire plant for your area is the firebush or hamelia patens. I put a link to it below. You should check out Floridata if you are new to Florida.
