Hi go check the box for eggs. Dees are sneaky little birds and zoom in and out of the box in a jiffy. If there are eggs put on a hole reducer. Put up a second box for the Blues, you are so lucky to have both! www.sialis.org gives nesting timetables for both the Blues and the Dees, also check to be sure your boxes are mounted properly so your birds are safe. I agree with lisa. Put up another box for the Blues. My Carolina Chickadees initially go about putting bits of green moss into each box that is a potential home. Once they decide upon "the one" they work diligently to complete a full nest inside. After that nest is completed, it is still awhile before they lay their eggs inside it. You may not see them at the box, but if they have completed a full nest, my hunch is that they intend to lay in it. I suppose that there have been times when Blues have built on top of a Chickadee nest. I would leave it up to them to work it out. If the Chickadees allow the Blues to snag the box, then they will build elsewhere. JMHO. HTH.~~Angie
