Enclosed Feeders

Does anyone else use an enclosed bluebird feeder? I'm referring to the type with the plexigass sides that can be removed for training purposes. I have been using one for two years but have been unable to entice the blues to enter the box with both sides closed. They look into the entry holes on both ends of the box but will not go inside. They are used to entering through the one side which I usually leave open. Because of starlings and a mockingbird constantly eating the food, I decided to close the box and try to get the blues to enter through the holes. My question is...how long should I wait before giving in to temptation and opening the box on one side again. I feel like they are going hungry. Am I nuts? I've only been waiting 3 days. Should it take longer than that or do you think they willl never enter that way? Any helpful hints would be appreciated.
