Hi all,

Yet a new calendar year is underway, so we'd like to share a sampling of our first photos of 2012...

Carolina Chickadee:

Very nice! I particularly like the Red-tailed Hawk and the bathing bluebirds.

My 'Blue Swede' were transplanted several times due to my house building and installation of ground heat pump. And after the great flood 2010th, looked just the dead. Then I cut him a bit and tied up some branches, because he's all sunk in the mud. Now they successfully covered the ugly bio severage overlay and feeling happy:). But I lost only 2 conifers - big Chamaecyparis lawsoniana and Juniperus squamata Blue Carpet. Here are some pictures of what my conifers had to endure... Interesting you should ask that, Will.. Because it quickly went from barely-white to the white/silver typical of this cultivar and then burned in the sunlight and warm temps to some extent.. Many other parts of the plant suffered slight burn. This branch was the best-looking. That being said, I believe the white color does come on after the growth matures. If this has anything to do with the fact that the nights are becoming cooler, I wouldn't know... -Sam

What kind of camera, and on what setting? I like that the backgrounds are blurred.

Thanks for your comments everybody,

dominoswrath - We use compact superzooms (Canon SX30, S5-IS, S3-IS, and Fuji S100fs) and shoot in Manual mode, so our settings vary with nearly every shot or series. The background blur is the result of shooting relatively close (8-25ft) at long focal lengths (700 -840mm).
