Using Binoculars with Contac Lenses

This may seem like a most unusual question but I'm hoping someone has had experience with this.
I currently have started needing glasses for reading, yep I'm over 40. It is really a hassle when out birding. Glasses off to look through bins. Back on when looking at the field guide, off again for another look, on again....you can see what I mean.
Sooo, I was considering contacs, but since my vision problem requires bifocal lenses, the doctor didn't even know how it would affect my vision when using binoculars.
Does anyone here wear bifocal contac lenses when out birding using binoculars? If so can you let me know if it works or not?
Thanks!
Janet
