It's that time again!! Start collecting your seeds, get off your tail...because this round robin is in the mail!!

Trade the seeds you have left over or seeds you have collected from your garden for seeds you don't have so you can plant them in next years planting!

Jump on in and let us know you are joining us!! Anything will do! Type "In", "Yes" or even "HECK YEA!!" just so we know to expect your envie! Then send me an e-mails o I can get you our address! Feel free to join The Garden Geeks on facebook as all updates of envies in and out will be posted under this seed event on that page.

We want to make this as easy as we can so new traders can get their feet wet! Don't be shy!! Come join us!!

Here is how to do it. Package your seeds up, you can use anything from those small plastic envies to home made ones made from junk mail. Be sure to label them well so we know what it is, then stuff them in a bubble envelope, drop in return address label and return postage, seal the envelope up, and send it to me. When I get your seeds, I will replace each pack with one sent in by someone else, take the address and stamps you sent and place them back on the same envelope. Seal it up and mail it back to you :). It's that simple!

To make this as easy as I can there are very few rules!
No seeds from before 2012.
No packs of "wild flower" seeds.
No more then 10 packs of one kind of seed
All packs must be labeled with what it is.
DO NOT send money for postage, just postage please.

Finally, HAVE FUN!!

Normally, the very large bubble envies take 5 or 6 stamps to return stuffed with seeds, medium 3-4, and the smallest take 2-3 stamps when fully stuffed.

This is a chance for new traders to see what Round Robin's are all about!! The exchange is one pack of your seeds for one pack of someone else's. People just wanting to share seeds are more then welcome to do so, I will pass extras on to others.

This will be a large seed swap - going across several sites so please get your seeds in as soon after the opening date that you can!

e-mail me so I can send you my address!

Swap runs from Oct 28th to Dec 6th 2013. Any seeds that come in after that date will be returned unopened.

*you can drop in a SHORT note of a few items you don't want and maybe a few wishes. (NO PROMISES but I will do my best with what comes in :)
**Remember, larger envies will take longer to fill. We do our best to be fair but be warned, if you are expecting commercial seeds only you will be disappointed.

Yes! I was gonna put that in last nite and forgot it till after I had submitted it! Was falling down tired and heading up to bed or I would have done a second post! If you just want to see if they're germinating you can usually hold the baggie up to strong lite and tell well enough if they're growing, but if you plan to plant them in soil when they germinate I recommend you wait a little less than peppers usually take to germinate and then unfold the paper towel to actually look. To move them into soil it's easiest if you do it immediately when you see germination or else the root can start to grow into the paper, making it hard to pick up! Obviously do it carefully when you move them--you're good with Plant Things, shouldn't be a problem for you! I have a tweezers with a long, very pointed end I can move them with (a craft tweezers), but (if they're not imbedded in the paper) you can often just "get" them with the tip of a toothpick or unbent paper clip or something. Usually easier to use something besides just trying to pick them up with your fingers! And if you make a very slight indentation in the soil you can just sort of lay them in (sideways works!) and push a BIT of soil over them. Virtually all of them should make it! A couple times I've "planted" seeds in paper towels that I knew were hard and took a long time to germinate so I could easily see when they germinated and not have to try to keep pots of soil "the right wetness" for a long time--without ever knowing if I should "wait longer" or not! When I had enough that germinated and I had them successfully planted in soil, I just threw the rest out! Worked well! With that many seeds it sounds like you should easily find as many good ones as you want. But one thing I do! When I'm putting them on the paper towel I make sure the seeds aren't touching each other. Don't know if that's necessary or not, but I do it because of the "rotten apple in a barrel" effect! Glad to hear that everyone is happy with what they received back! I am down to the LAST THREE ENVELOPES!!! I have 10 ready to mail this morning: Rollinrockell Foodeefish Elvimiller Thismembername Moonfire Nak10 MissyGA64 Trickfox Plus the last couple packages from THP folks. It is such a relief to be winding down the swap. I love being able to fulfill wishes! Makes me feel a bit like Santa Claus, LOL, but I am ready to focus on getting the garden ready for planting. Well, as soon as it warms up a bit. Right now, it's 16 degrees outside. It's supposed to reach 50 by the weekend though. Come on spring!!! A fun candy to have ingredients on hand & pull out when you have a group of people hanging out together. When my kids were younger their friends loved to make this & take some home to their family. Of course, eating mistakes is part of the fun! Christmas Pretzel Reindeer Recipe *fun for kids of all ages to make & eat! You will need: Pretzels (2 inch size work better than the ones that are dollar coin size.) Melted White Chocolate/vanilla almond bark (your glue) M and Ms Whole Almonds To make a reindeer: 1. Melt some white chocolate according to directions on the package 2. Lay the pretzel on a sheet of parchment paper 3. Fill the three pretzel holes with white chocolate using a teaspoon. 4. Place matching M and Ms in the two smaller holes for eyes setting on white chocolate. 5. Place a red M and M just below the eyes, in the larger space, for the nose. 6. Put almonds for ears above the eyes and a little to the outside 7. Break pretzels to form antlers and set then between the ears. Let it set up & store in an airtight container. Wow! Some of you are ready to mail already? I am not even close yet!:) To those of you that are having issues with your updates not taking,jaynine,Janine,posted that if you completely close GW after updating and sign back in it takes. I am going to be sure all of mine took also,just in case!;) Angela,it is so nice of you to offer,Thank you! For now, I sort of have my own plan,I haven't started yet,but if I think mine may be a no go,I may just take you up on it!:) I have everyones name,and link to their trade page in a file,as I find seeds I have on their wants I am going to copy and paste those I have into the file under their name,print it out and sit down with my seeds and pack them up...that is the plan,hopefully it goes as smoothly as I have imagined!;) Please, if you update, post so we know! Many people may not be checking lists twice considering the update deadline has past,but there are those of us that will be checking them up to the mailing deadline. So if you make changes,let us know!:) Karen & Nancy,I would email Patty and ask her opinion,just in case she misses your post!I am curious of what she has to say,because I already know I am well past the 200 limit myself...lol...:) I have mentioned this before,in case any of you missed it. Last year someone suggested that we all send Patty an extra stamp or two with our postage to help with any overages she may have at the PO on the big mailing day. This was not something Patty suggested,just something I thought was a nice thing we could possibly carry over to this year!:) Tina,I was thinking of doing the same thing,like you,am going to get my final total and take out the general ones,unless of course, I have some awesome plant I want share that fits into a general category!;) stage rat,it was dirtdiggin that said she has an excel spreadsheet made up of the players for the swap.I totally agree,having the original on a notepad of some kind is always best!:) Well,I will be off the computer,until after Christmas! Lots to do here and the kids were off school today because of some really cold weather,wind chills at -10 to -20,so not much got done,tomorrow I will catch up on the house...again... and than we are going to bake and start preparing for Christmas dinner before going to MIL's for Christmas Eve dinner!:) I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas!:)

My seeds arrived today and what a wonderful package of seeds I received. I am thrilled with everything. Have to spend more time sorting but am happy with all I received.

This is just a reminder that this exchange is over and it ended on the 6th. I went out of town the evening of the 6th and told my son any envies that come in the door after this date should be mailed out return to sender. He has reported to me that many are still coming in, including a few that arrived today with a post mark date of the 6th. I am sorry but all packages that come in will be sent back unopened.
For those that did get their seeds in on time, all envies have been mailed out (with the exception of one that is from across the pond) and I am enjoying reading that you are happy with your seeds! As always, you have all made it fun and everyone did a great job! Thanks so much...will see you again in the spring!
