Regular leaf tomatoes pollination, is this true?

From Website:
Most tomato varieties self-pollinate before the flowers open - and you can grow many varieties next to each other. Exception is found with tomatoes that have potato-leaves and/or grow beef-steak shaped fruit

I know this is a broad statement, but if I read right, regular leaf tomatoes do not cross as easily as potato leaf tomatoes as long as they are not beef-steak tomatoes?

For home use then, I can plant two medium fruit sized regular leaf tomato varieties side by side and save seed and in general not worry about cross pollination?

thanks,

Dean
