Anyone successfully overwinter Purple Fountain Grass?
Comments (7)I also overwintered Purple Fountain grass as a houseplant, quite successfully. As mentioned above, I placed in front of a large, north-facing window and it did great, with minimal watering. I cut it back in mid-May and placed it outdoors and it is sending up new growth nicely. Good luck!...See MoreAnyone Overwintered Confederate Star Jasmine Outside in Zone 6?
Comments (1)I would maybe try one out and pot the other one up an put in your garage. These are rated zone 8, I would prune them back, mulch them and cover them with a pot for some protection. Even after all of this I would be surprised if it came back for you. I have one of these that I keep in a pot and sink it in the ground in the spring and take it back out in the late fall,it does very well like this. Good luck and let us know how it works for you....See Moreoverwintering tropical hibiscus
Comments (2)I used to overwinter tropical hibiscus over many years in my basement under lights. Some years they were cut back, other years not. Didn't really matter. If it got too tall I would clip it back. Sometimes they bloomed inside. I am trying not to overwinter so many plants and decided to cull the hibiscus as they often get white flies, scale, aphids. I sent my beautiful red tropical hibiscus to Texas with my sister where she grows them outside all year. Also needed to make room for the brugmansia cuttings from the ones you traded last spring....See MoreCan I overwinter a hardy hibiscus thats in a pot?
Comments (7)Hi, I need advice. I have a hardy Hibiscus tree. I get one every year. Last fall I moved from Mpls. To Ohio. I get this tree every year. The very first year after washing it down to bring inside many years ago the trying to keep the spider mites off was overwhelming. Eventually I throw it out. By this time the leaves are falling anyway. This is the first time my tree has a ton of babies along with many blooms as if was July its November. Seriously beautiful! I read about hardy Hibiscus. (never heard of) I brought her inside this afternoon we are expecting a freeze tonight. This is my first year in Ohio I'm not sure if the mites will take over being inside. I would like to keep her in the house through the winter. What do you suggest. I'm amazed, I told her she was confused - It's me that confused. This was in July she look the same except much fuller...See Moremondai
