organic tomato magic

i have an internet book titled Organic Tomato Magic by Kacper Postawski. i got it off of JoyfulTomato.com. he advocates radical leaf pruning. in our greenhouse we were already doing heavy pruning and it seem to keep the bugs and disease down.

in my field crops i have always pruned my leafs back to two feet above the soil with very good results. i lose very few tomatoes to disease and bugs. this is on indeterminate, trellised tomatoes.

the gist of his book is good soil and radical pruning. he says it only takes 3 leaves per plant to have enough photo-synthesis.

he claims he pruned a crop of tomatoes in Florida this way and it did well. my impression of Florida is it is one big greenhouse in the summer so maybe it would work in Florida.

my question is; would it work in this high desert clime i live in?
