Where is the best place to buy heirloom seeds online?

I am looking to plant a few more varieties other than my Brandywine and Cherokee Purple that i did this year. What i think i want is Sungold and Green Zebra. I am looking for a reputable source that has true heirlooms, thanks in advance.

Well Sungold is a hybrid so it isn't a "true heirloom" and neither is Green Zebra AFAIK but if it is open pollinated varieties (often mistakenly referred to as heirlooms) you are looking for then the link below to several previous discussions on where to buy seeds will help.

All heirloom varieties are open pollinated but not all open pollinated varieties are heirlooms. To qualify as an heirloom variety there must be historical documentation of source.

Personally I prefer tomatofest.com and tomatogrowers.com but there are many other sources as well.

I buy seeds from Tomato Growers Supply and Sandhill Preservation. Never had any problems with those two sources.

This is the first time I got seeds from the USA. The experience is good and bad. I am happy that there was no duty on a purchase of USD 8.70. I got five packages of seeds. The shipping costs was $5.93, averaging $2.9 per package including one of the seeds I could not find in any online stores in Canada. But I have learned that if one of the seeds is on back order, the order would not be sent until all seeds are in. When I cancelled the back order seeds, the operator promised to replace the back order seeds with another one which is at a lower price than the two combined. However, when I called again later on I was told that it was not included in the shipment because they could not add seeds to an existing order. When I asked to speak to a manager two times, nobody ever called me back. The name of this company is Park Seed. So if you want to order anything from them, please speak to a person by phone instead of doing it online to make sure that all the seeds you want is already in its warehouse so that you can make an order that is good for the shipping cost and below $20 to avoid complication in duty charge also.

I think it also depends on the nursery location and their shipping method. Roses Unlimited has a great reputation, but they are in South Carolina, which is clear across the country from me. My roses spent 8 days in a box and they arrived in poor condition. Roses Unlimited also delayed shipment until May, because they were having a harsh winter, which meant my roses entered my brutal summer way too early. Now I only order from nurseries that are close to where I live. Heirloom Roses is in Oregon, the state next to mine and their plants arrive to me extremely green and healthy. Burlington Roses is in California and she uses USPS to ship the plants. She sells young bands, but they arrive to me in no time and in great condition.

I ordered my Sungold from Tomato Growers Supply. They sell both
hybrid and open pollinated. I also like Heirloom Seeds, but they do
not sell Hybrids.

I too recommend Sandhill Preservation highly. They're a bit slow--and tell you so up front--but they're reliable and inexpensive with zero shipping costs if you buy a couple of varieties. However, move fast if you want the seeds anytime soon. They do not fill seed orders between August 15 and I believe the end of December. Reminds me, I need to get my Sandhill seed order ready to go.
