I'm pretty sure if they have babies they won't be in a flock. The hens go off by themselves when they raise them so maybe you should be just as wary if you see a single hen. I'd never heard of anyone being attacked but will be more cautious myself now. Gardenweed is right, they're BIG when their wings are outstretched. I pulled in my driveway once and one flew up in front of my car only a couple feet from my windshield and I nearly had a heart attack. lol I haven't had any damage in my garden that I know of but don't have as many as you. I see them in our field but they rarely come up in my yard. I suspect they could wipe out a lot of seedlings in a hurry if they thought they looked appetizing but rabbits can too. Turkeys DO eat grasshoppers and that's a big plus. I wonder if they eat ticks. (hope so) It's still amazing to me how common they are now. Ten or twelve years ago, I had never seen a wild turkey at all. Now I see them almost daily if I'm out driving. Loved the videos. I think all the "attacks" were just people being followed. I think you may need to protect your seedlings with wire mesh or something. It might be easier to plant them out in a nursery bed for awhile spaced closely so they're easier to protect. Or at least protect your most precious seedlings until you get an idea of how destructive the turkeys and other critters are going to be.

WI, 8-12 oz pink/black, other basic traits, excellent taste, seeds from someone in TX who got the seeds from Millard, Because of the post above mine I'm just adding that Millard has introduced quite a few varieties, Captain Lucky and Captain Lucky White come to mind and those two and the one being asked about are all from accidental cross pollinations, selections made and named when genetic stability has been reached, which can take, usually,from 4 to maybe 7 years based on what the original parents were. I posed the following questions on another forum: 1. Could the iron be locked up in the silica to the point that it won't oxidize? 2. Is it a matter of time before the iron oxidizes, expands and destroys the finish? 3. Is it a matter of what % levels of iron is in the aggregate? 4. Is it correct to assume that iron oxides used to dye the mix would not respond to the magnet? This was the first response to the query: "The iron in granite is iron oxide (in both ferric and ferrous forms), not raw iron. It is weakly magnetic, though not as strong as with iron. Iron oxide is what is used in "magnetic ink" for the automatically read account numbers at the bottom of checks. I suppose it is possible for the chlorine in the pool to oxidize the ferrous oxide to ferric oxide which would change the color from black to red-rust color, but the quantities are so small that it probably wouldn't be noticeable and would just be at the surface of the finish anyway.
